If you were invited to dinner would you bring a drink or dessert?

@NorthernRoses I find that to be very strange because my parents are known for their friendship with people from different cultures and it's still customary to bring something along. Like our Greek friends introduced us to oozo, our Indian friends brought us some flowers, mums best friend is Turkish she would always bring us baklava and dessert wine.
Our Irish friends made Guinness cake... and whenever we'd go to dinner we'd always take a punch we make or my grandmother's biscuit wine.
This is something my friends do and it's not something we have to ask usually they offer " do you need me to bring anything", if you say no they still insist on buying a wine.

@Peppa Well, it's not like that here. You're not encouraged to bring stuff when invited to dinner.

@Adam77 its just a standard for dinner, not often u drink a gin & tonic or any other drink with a meal, esp if its a dinner party

@Peppa Always wine, never soft drink, plus I like to give the host a bottle of their favorite drink too

Then I would bring wine (though I don't drink anymore )
Guitar is always in the car or truck
People I know invite me to cookout because they really want me to play ,
its kind of a normal thing ,,
and its not a serenaded ,its a show ,but lots of fun
