ThePenguin · 26-30, M
Might be because of the order of operations. 🤔
What's up with that leading percentage sign?🤣

I get 2.39 too. What is the % symbol in front of the 9.58 for?
Annab · 61-69, T
Actually - just checked that again. If it is 9.58% then it is
(32006/((29622+371410) x 0.5))x100
Edited oops missed a parenthesis
(32006/((29622+371410) x 0.5))x100
Edited oops missed a parenthesis
NortiusMaximus · M
@Annab I'm not sure the outer parentheses are needed.
In steps -
32006/((296222 + 371410) * 0.5) * 100
32006/(667632 * 0.5) * 100
32006/333816 * 100
then one just works left to right -
0.095879 * 100 = 9.59
In steps -
32006/((296222 + 371410) * 0.5) * 100
32006/(667632 * 0.5) * 100
32006/333816 * 100
then one just works left to right -
0.095879 * 100 = 9.59

@NortiusMaximusYep you're right - forgot to fully follow the BODMAS rules through. Either way the OP one was incorrect

Where is the question?
(Note that I'm not intending to come up with a solution but this post interests me lol)

@SW-User Holy cow!

Start the calculation farthest in, meaning the values inside the parentheses. Add those together. Then divide the first value by that value, then multiply by the next value, then multiply by the last value.
I don't know how you're getting 9.58 from that.

Try doing the broblem backwards maybe since you know the correct answer
SeductiveCactus · 26-30, F
@Toastyy WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT. Youre a genius.
Toastyy · 22-25, F
@SeductiveCactus ha x) ill try and do that as well i got the same answer as you too tho without goin backwards
mathsman · 70-79, M
If you want to know how you got 2.39 you gave to post your calculator keyings.
Then I can help
