The first rule of driving anything is: When you are driving, everyone else driving on the road is an idiot. You must forever be observant to everything going on around you.
Now, as far as you being afraid. The best thing to do is to get back on your bike and ride. Even if it is just a short ride down your street. The longer you wait, the harder it will be. You can't allow fear to run your life.

@Vgore0304 Ah, well that is a little easier to do under controlled circumstances until you build up your confidence again. Ride places where there are no cars - dedicated bike paths, etc.
