Why do people think that money will make them happier?

Let me tell you something. IT DOESN'T! I am from a family that easily makes well over $100K a year and I have never felt any happier as a result. If I came from a millionaire family I still wouldn't be happy. If I came from a family that barely makes 20K a year I still wouldn't be any happier.
Well I can vouch that being poor don't bring happiness.. I'm happy to test the theory on the other side

that effects everyone regardless of money but even if you had a lot of money youll have more people flocking to you... could be real relationships or people just out to use you.

Just find a career that makes you happy regardless of pay. You don't have stay with family and don't worry about getting another degree. Just start from the bottom up. I'm imagining your family is overwhelming for you

That's really over the top. Idk what what your career is, but it's your life to do as you please. You just need to make your own way. Your father cares greatly, but needs to give you breathing room. You might just have to say so to him.

A degree is all you need.

It's all relative. Try living like Howard Hughes did for a while before saying that living on 20k you can be happy. FYI It drove him to all kinds of neurosis.

the only type of people it would make happy are ones who were dirt poor and suddenly win the lottery

Even if you won the lottery, you would feel an overwhelming sense of emptiness. The cash won't cut it. Lack of money is often an excuse for choosing to remain at a low ebb in life.
