If you consciously decide to give or not give to street beggars...

...what do you factor in when reaching your decision?

Impulse or not.

@Paliglass ...don't quite understand... you go on impulse? Perhaps gut feeling as to whether it's a genuine case of hardship? Or you sway one way or the other with no particular rationale?

@Valentine on an instinct if they are genuine and on an impulse of whether I feel like giving anything or not. If I don't have money on me I've given chocolate, a cheeseburger I was about to eat, a cigarette. I was gonna give the guy yesterday half a bottle of JD I had in my bag but I had change. I have told someone to F OFF etc once though because the people I was with looked frightened of her - she looked like she was on drugs. Sometimes I just say "no sorry" So it's on impulse.

Seeing someone one-day in a wheelchair with no legs and seeing the same guy the next day pushing his wheelchair to the corner. Fucked cut his pants in such a way he could have the empty pant legs hang down while he folded his legs underneath him. Yes I saw that in Dallas and I'll try and find the pictures

@Scubaguy027 These people just f*ck it up for those who really need it. *gets angry* There was a case in the UK when a guy was collecting for a ex-soldiers, and he walked off with £100k-£200k. I now never give to any unrecognised or governed charity. Shame.
