What can I do to get out of a deep depression?

If you're really at your wits end, medication for a few months can help you get your chemical levels back to normal if it's to do with your serotonin levels.

If you've had problems with constantly spiralling out into negative thought patterns then you can see a CBT specialist (Cognitive behavioural therapy). They find the roots of your thoughts and change them from that, giving you mechanisms to cope and using the literal mechanisms of the brain on itself to enact change.

Things you can do at home: exercise even if its just once a day or just walking round the block once, gives you endorphins and relieves anxiety, just do what you can.

Eating healthy, your gut is your second brain and has a LOT to do with your mood, if you eat healthy foods or just non processed/frozen food you'll start feeling happier and have more energy, every little helps and it will.

Write stuff down, writing thoughts down like a journal even if its just on and off kinda gives you a good idea of where you were at compared to how you are today, also gives you an outlet and a small thing to do in the day.
Also just set small goals for the day, like "i'm gonna brush my teeth and eat something this morning" and just go from there. (it helps)

and no alcohol. just no.

*i've struggled with severe depression and anxiety most of my life, these things ALL helped me from personal experience and i'm now a happier person after years of awfulness thanks to these things*

Exercise is great but obviously depression brings with it lack of motivation. If urs comes and goes in stages like mine then on ur good days/weeks try getting into something physical. Also proper breathing techniques can work. Only ever use anti-depressants as a short term solution. Hope u pick up soon.
if truely deep, you will need help
but ignore your emotions,, by making your body work hard at something,, for hours,,
to be physically exhausted, is often helpfull
