@MasterLee It's symbolic not literal. It's speaking of idolatry in terms of adultery. The Lord's people were making alliances with Assyria and worshipping their gods. So yeah when his people aren't faithful he isn't happy with what they're doing, especially when they've made promises and have the knowledge that they had. That doesn't negate the above verses.
