Why do christians pray? [Spirituality & Religion]

According to the christian myth, their god has this great plan and always does what's best for us. Praying amounts to asking it to do something it hadn't thought of doing. Isn't it rather arrogant of them to presume they know better than their "almighty god"?

Yes we should always pray "your will be done" but if we have faith and love Jesus he promises to give us the desires of our heart, and I know this to be true. Because I have noticed that when I talk to God all day being thankful for everything, he gives me things that I haven't even prayed for yet! My 5th post shows some miracles God has done in my life. No coincidences, they are MIRACLES!

People who worship other gods testify to their gods doing the same for them. That must prove their gods are real too.

@Sharon NO, God only hears saved peoples prayers he says. Unless you repent.

@Emosaur That means that no time ever had God made the sun turn back 10 hours so Joshua could win the war like he asked. See we can't jump to conclusion that God doesn't listen he listens to me and answers my prayers, even before I pray.

NO, read what I wrote! You're talking about you god. I said people who worship other gods testify that their gods hear and answer their prayers. That proves those gods are at least as real as yours.

@Sharon Some people hear from demons, not God.

@Carazaa That's just your opinion. Some people hear from their gods. Some would say your god is a demon. Why do you disparage others' beliefs and their gods? You're really hateful sometimes.
Carazaa · F
@Sharon Everything I say is my opinion obviously, and I believe it is truth, and I am willing to die for that truth.

That's fine so long as you don't try to present it as proven fact. You don't need to disparage others' beliefs either.

@Carazaa Others shouldn't have to die for not believing your truth

@kodiac God made the world for himself, like you take a picture for yourself, God addresses this to Jonah in this story to us all.🤗

Jonah's Anger at The Lord's Compassion to save a city from its own destruction.
The Lord told Jonah to go to Nineveh to warn that city that he would destroy it because of their sin.
4 But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. 2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3 Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

4 But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”

5 Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city. 6 Then the Lord God provided a leafy plant[a] and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the plant. 7 But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the plant so that it withered. 8 When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.”

9 But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?”

“It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.”

10 But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. 11 And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

@kodiac Of course they shouldn't... but that said, christians aren't the cause of that. At least not real ones - and the truth is the opposite is much more the case... non-christians murdering christians.

The old "no true Scotsman" fallacy.
