God tells us to obey our leaders because they are put there by God. Romans 13 [Spirituality & Religion]

13 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

So Hitler was in power by God? And all those communist leaders who aren't religious, God put them in power too?
Carazaa · F
@Allelse YES! God warned the Jews 3000 years ago that if you go to other gods and disobey me I will scatter you among the nations and they will hate you and torture you and kill you. But they ignored him. I pray for them now I think my Grandma was part Jewish. I have many friends who are Jewish and I love them, and God said that in the last days they would get back their land, and turn to God again.
Carazaa · F
@Allelse God gives us the leaders we elect and deserve. If we are ungodly he will give us ungodly leaders!
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Carazaa So God gasses and burns those he doesn't like? And that's morality to you?
Carazaa · F
@Allelse God warns us "the wages of sin is DEATH", that's why Jesus, Gods son, came to die for us! If we trust in him he covers ALL our sins. That's why I am here to spread the news 🙂
@Carazaa "God gives us the leaders we deserve." This makes no sense to me.
Carazaa · F
@BiasForAction What's not to understand?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Yet another reason I'm glad to be an Atheist.
Carazaa · F
@Bushranger Not smart!
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Do you think that social disobedience in the face of a tyrannical leader is appropriate?
Carazaa · F
@Bushranger I don't think there is a reason for violence ever.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa I didn't say anything about violence. So please answer the question.
Carazaa · F
@Bushranger Social disobedience is violence. Demonstrating is lawful. voting is lawful. Not social disobedience. I will block you if you make this a trolling political post. I am quoting God that we need to obey our leaders, because they are put there by God. I wear a mask, and I listen and obey all laws.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Looks like I'm going to get blocked again, then. Social disobedience includes demonstrating against a tyrannical leader. It can include violence, but violence is not a necessary part of social disobedience. Mahatma Gandhi is a classic example of peaceful social disobedience.

But my point is this; people who disagree with tyrannical leaders are, in my opinion, doing the correct thing. Those who blindly follow are only perpetuating tyranny. There are times when it's necessary to protest against a regime and disobeying immoral laws is not wrong.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Carazaa But you said god put Hitler in power? So is god saying he wants people to be like Hitler?
Carazaa · F
@Allelse No that is not what I am saying. I am done talking about Hitler. I am here for depressed people not for trolls. Have a nice night!

@Bushranger
Yet another reason I'm glad to be an Atheist
Same here, christianity makes no sense at all.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Carazaa So we shouldn't have fought the Nazi's? What if God gives us leaders that are atheists?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Sharon A God sends himself to earth to die for the sins he already knew you and i will commit before we were even born. If we don't love him we burn forever..because he loves us.
Sharon · F
@Entwistle If the leaders of every country are appointed by the same entity, why do they go to war with each other? Surely they would all agree on everything. It seem we're all set up to kill each other by an omnibenevolent god.
Sharon · F
@Entwistle
A God sends himself to earth to die ...
As I just said, christianity makes no sense at all.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Sharon Indeed. Also why would we even bother to have elections?
