Are We Only Christian Because We Were Raised in a Christian Culture? [Spirituality & Religion]

I was raised Catholic until I met Jesus and asked Him into my heart and life.

um....so you were born and raised in a Christian tradition and you are today a Christian.
So the answer in your case is a resounding "Yes".

@Straylight That's the beauty of living in Australia; religion, or the lack thereof, isn't such a big thing.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Bushranger New Orleans is a pretty laid back region. Its predominantly catholic, but most people are live in let live. I've not faced any flack for being a gay pagan. At least not to my face.

I didn't grow up in a particularly religious place and wasn't raised in any faith i i would still LOVE to believe that death wasn't the end and there were answers waiting out there.
I think that's most of what makes religion so appealing and ubiquitous.
That decision is strictly a personal one, meaning one does not, and CANNOT, get into heaven on the coat sleeves of another. Ever. If one's father was a murderer, that wouldn't make THEM a murderer. I see some awfully sad answers here.

I think it can be more dangerous to be raised in a Christian church and not realize what salvation truly is. It isn’t a membership gifted or inherited by your family or parents.

I know that in the Lutheran church which is very similar to the Catholic Church in liturgy that the goal seems to be to complete the Catechism and get confirmed to satisfy the “externals”. You find out quickly how mature in the Faith you actually are.

@Pfuzylogic The problem with different sects is they get caught up in the small details and miss the main point. Cant see the forest through the trees, as they say.

It is simple to do away with the sects/denomination semantics once you realize that Jesus is the core belief. That there is an invisible church sealed by the Holy Spirit that will awaken you to the reality of who you are. At the best, we are sheep dependent on a Living Shepherd.

I had a similar life experience.. Was raised in the catholic religion but later i was gifted a Bible and read it.. I left the catholic religion and became a Christian.. 😊 Praise the Loving LORD Jesus Christ 🤗

i too have met with Jesus
he talked with me
pointed out some things to me.
It was an interesting meeting.
First many children came in from
the right side offering me flowers and fruit.
Lord Jesus came down from above
and one who stood behind him
came in form the left side
He spoke some powerful words of wisdom to me
without his lips moving.
a very powerful experience.
Yogananda had many meetings with Jesus
and writes about his meetings in his book
Autobiography of a Yogi

After the Council of Nicaea(May to August AD 325), Christianity turned out to be more of a curse than a blessing to this world.
Jesus is great and all, but he is still the middle man.

Yes. Some starts to question as they grow up though
I like to think humans all strive to be good and religion often offers us a path to be good. We wouldn't stay in a religion we were raised with if we didn't believe it was the right path

Good point, Christianity started in an area where there were no Christians!

@Emosaur
Yes, one's religion mostly depends on geography.
What religion?

@Emosaur culture, I'd say. Which, yes, is heavily influenced by geography.
