Can Saved Christians ever lose their Salvation? [Spirituality & Religion]

No Never! Jesus says "No one can snatch them out of my hands." Here is a Calvinist Protestant vs a Catholic debate and then John McArthurs video which explains it so beautifully. Christ holds us fas

@Carazaa Simply repeating your opinions and speculation does not magically turn them into real evidence.
@Emosaur
Does that mean that, for instance, the Hindu gods are real?
I'd like to see @GodSpeed63 prove they're not. ;)

@Carazaa Hi Carazaa, No one can snatch away anything from God, and I personally find great comfort in that. I know He doesn’t let us go without a fight, and never without a way to turn to Him again. And I thank Him for that, because without that surely I would be left outside the kingdom of heaven. His forgiveness is unparalleled.

But, for thought on the topic- these are some verses I can think of off the top of my head, but anyone reading this please keep in mind there is more information on the topic in the Bible, and I do suggest you research the topic on your own, with God, to come to your own conclusions.

Revelations 2:5,7 "... I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place-unless you repent." "He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life..."
Revelations 3:16,18 "So then because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my Mouth", "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in fire, that you may be rich; and white garments that you may be clothed, ... to him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Mathew 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mathew 18:32-35 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother [g]his trespasses.”
Matthew 25 10-12 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Notice the parables I included are about the servants and children of God.

Another kinda subtopic to consider is when people leave the kingdom. The parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin are about the children who are lost because they left the kingdom of God, and there is rejoicing when they come back again or are found.
With all this said, God is merciful. All throughout the Bible He tells His children repent and return to me, and like Jesus told the disciples to forgive seventy time seven, He forgives us over and over again, often guiding us back to His kingdom. No matter what anyone believes, I hope they take away something from the Scriptures, and do many good works in the Kingdom <3

I also think it's okay that we can lose our salvation, doesn't make God any less loving or powerful in my opinion.

@AnointedOne We can't really understand Gods ways with our brains but I truly believe that Jesus died for ALL my sins, my past, present and future sins.

The scripture talks about a third person / spirit not being able to cause someone to lose their salvation..

The scriptures do not say that a saved person can later decide to reject the message of the Gospel and disbelieve in the Atonement of Jesus saves them..

So while a person cannot ""lose"" their salvation they can and many have ""cast away"" their salvation by coming to disbelieve in the promises of Christ..

2 Peter 2:17 "These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. {18} For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. {19} While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. {20} For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. {21} For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. {22} But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

@Carazaa Yes i know you're a calvinist Carazza. That has been clear to me for a while since you often use John MacArthur video's who is a staunch calvinist.. I am not a calvinist.. So i do not believe God forces one person to be saved and blocks salvation from another.. The calvinist interpretation of scripture is faulty..

But anyway i don't want to get into a calvinist debate so i will leave this as it is..
Carazaa · F
@Adstar Its not black or white. Listen to Mcacarthurs 6 min balance between the two. He says both views are hard to grasp with our brains but God knows what he is doing and both are correct. Ill copy it.

Yes, they can. The Bible says so over and over again. I encourage you to read the Bible front to back if you haven't. I also had the same question, and at the time I believed Christians couldn't lose their salvation. I subsequently read the Bible again for other reasons and found that you can. Think about it- God is a God of justice, you can't just be unholy and do whatever you like, forsake him, or hate others, live in unforgiveness, or start worshipping the devil, commit mass murder! Or other terrible things and because you were saved at 7 years old, or a few years, you're still okay to enter the Kingdom. No, He says He will spit you out! You will not get a crown, or a new name, a throne, or life. You are to be holy as He is holy, or at least attempt to be because God is good, and His kingdom is holy. Alot of people get saved and ignore God after because of the belief once saved always saved. They think getting saved is all they have to do. We are called to be servants, overcomers, and to carry the presence of God with us in our everyday lives, to do good on this earth and to be an example for others so that when other people see the light and life coming from our life they listen when you say it's all JESUS in my life. Every vine that doesn't produce is cut off. I believe when I re-read the Bible I had to have seen that we are not once saved always saved at least 30 times in the Old Testament and New Testament (there's lot's on this topic in the New), and from several words and parables spoken by Jesus Himself. The Bible verse that we cannot be taken out of His Hand means what it says only, it does not say He won't remove us from His hand. Always take the Word for what it says, not for what anyone tells you it means<3. With much Love!

@AnointedOne Jesus says "I give them eternal life, and they shall NEVER perish, no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28
Carazaa · F
@AnointedOne I read 3 chapters the in the morning, and listen to 2 sermons a day and and try hard reading through the Bible once a year for the last 40 years. Have you read your Bible today? Do you do a devotion every day? I spent one hr today doing my devotion.
AnointedOne · 36-40, F
@Carazaa I try to write, read, and/or pray every day. I admire you reading the Bible through once a year for the last 40 years, that's incredible. I would like to keep you as a contact if you don't mind.
So Christians who renounce their faith are accused of never having been “truly Christian.”
Carazaa · F
@LeopoldBloom Many think they are born again but it is not a saving grace. Jesus says nothing can snatch us out of his hands. If it was up to me I would have lost my salvation a long time ago.
@Carazaa If they only "think" they're born again, is it possible that you are in that group? You "think" you're saved, but you really aren't? And if you're sure that you're saved, is it possible that others were also sure, until they lost their faith later?

I'm not talking about everyone who converts. Obviously, some converts were never very religious to begin with. I'm talking about people who sincerely believed, but no longer do. As long as you accept that those people exist, we have no argument.
Carazaa · F
@LeopoldBloom Of course that's possible. But I really want to be pleasing to God more than I want anything else.
But being born again is more than having faith, its walking with God!
gregloa · 61-69, M
Revelation chapter 1,2,and 3 clearly explain that a Christian can fall from grace. Particularly chapter 3 verse 5 which Jesus tells us about our name being blotted out of the book of life if we don’t repent. We have to remember faith without works is dead. The devil believes. All sin that includes Christians. Repentance brings forgiveness. When we sin, if we confess and repent Christ blood covers our sin. But even a Christian can fall into temptation. The devil is hard at work trying to deceive Christians so they will fall from grace. That’s why it is so important to persevere. We wear the breastplate of righteousness which protects us from the devils firy arrows by doing good and staying away from those who commit unbelieving sin least we be tempted and fall from grace. That means we will absolutely be tempted. Why else does the Bible warn us to stay away from those who practice such sin. John 10:28 is referring to those who remain faithful and don’t allow themselves to fall from grace. The bold letters you used are a sign of anger and argument which are not God breathed. But are from the devil which he loves.
Carazaa · F
@gregloa Those were never saved. We all have grace and are known by God, but not all predestined and chosen for SALVATION.
gregloa · 61-69, M
They were real born again Christians that obeyed the gospel and were members of Christ church but were straying from his word. Jesus warned the churches to repent or be blotted out of the book of life. Narrow is the gate that leads to Heaven and few pass thru. If it were that easy everyone would go. No sin is forgiven without repentance first. How can future sins be forgiven without repentance occurring first? We are saved when we obey the gospel as Jesus commands. Why do you think Jesus himself was baptized? To fulfill scripture @Carazaa
Carazaa · F
@gregloa

Please be careful so you don't count on your works to save you, but it is JESUS works that saves us!! Of course we can't completely understand the miracle of Salvation.

My salvation is 100% secure. Jesus died for all my sins, not just a few sins. No-one can snatch the salvation away from a born again Christian. When God saved me it had NOTHING to do with any thing I did, but what Jesus did for me a sinner. God drew me to himself and saved me. The Holy Spirit came into my heart and changed it from stone to flesh. I didn't want to be saved, I was spiritually dead, like Lazarus who had been dead 4 days. Jesus wanted to give us an illustration how dead we are in our sins. "No one is righteous, NO NOT ONE!" God says. It was his choice, not mine. Romans 8; Romans 9. I can't credit my salvation on any work, or action. And I am secure forever. No one who is saved wants to sin ever. Only those who are the tears, those who aren't saved. Jesus gave us an illustration of all those who fall away. They lost their faith because they were not saved. The parable of the seeds.

When God saved Noah, God only saved his family all the other people died. It will be like that when Jesus comes. Most who preach are not following Jesus but are following Satan today I believe. They aren't saved. How do we know because they rely on their own works. Only Jesus works count. If you are saved then you follow Jesus every day wherever he goes, you can't sin without falling on your knees and feeling so guilty because the Holy Spirit is grieved. Jesus says, "Many of you will say in that day I preached in your name, and I will tell you I never knew you." Why did he never know them because they were neversaved! He never knew them.

Anyone can lose anything... Even their salvation.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays I was only stating a fact, I didn't realize I had quoted or paraphrased anybody.

@Sidewinder Than you make Jesus out to be a liar!

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays I prefer Jesus words to any mans.
A saved Christian in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Jesus said His Yoke was light.. He did not say His yoke was weightless..

(Matthew 11:28-30) "¶[c=#BF0000] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.[/c] {29} [c=#BF0000]Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls[/c]. {30} [c=#BF0000]For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light[/c]."
Carazaa · F
@Adstar If we love Jesus and put him first I think he will give us peace and help us. That is my experience. I only have hard times when I don't put him first. He will answer our prayers if we have faith.

@CopperCicada
According to the model of once saved, always saved, I could be saved and then engage in horrible aggregious acts that are affronts to God and all that is good.
In that case, you were never saved in the first place. Being saved is not bondage, it is being free to become the men and women God created us to be from the very beginning without the sinful nature within us.
Carazaa · F
Carazaa · F
@CopperCicada I do agree we have to be analyzing ourselves, are we saved or fooling ourselves since God says that many will not make it to heaven "I never new you" So if Jesus never knew them he never knew them.
