More like Jesus? [Spirituality & Religion]

Adstar56-60, M Best Comment
Yes Jesus hanged out with sinners.. But not to join in sin with them but to lead them to salvation..

Yes Jesus upset religious people.. But the ones who trusted in their own efforts at being good and who had twisted His Word and created false religion..

Yes Jesus told parables that did confront peoples conscious..

Jesus actually loved them all.. Even the ones who where offended by His preaching..

Yes Jesus was kind loving and merciful and still is.. 馃槉

Yes Jesus did take naps on boats.. A good place for 40 winks..

I wish some (not you) would refrain from fighting and calling each other names on these spiritual subjects, and just learn to discuss without putting others down.

Amen, sister, amen.
I love Jesus! He is the Son of the Living God, who suffered and died for the sins of the world. His father, God, rose him from the dead after three days, and He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

@puck61
Just the probability of the accuracy of prophetic scripture, 5,000 years plus in question.....
That's something else that's commonly misunderstood. As I said, sooner or later some event can be match to some prophecy. The longer it takes just increases the chance of a random event matching a prophecy. A long period of time devalues the prophecy.
There is nothing vague about any of them,
In that case, it should be a trivial exercise for you find one that's clear and was fulfilled exactly (within a day or two) when it was predicted to.
@Sharon "You fool! This day shall thy soul be required of thee."

@puck61 Where was that prediction made and what evidence is there that it came true? Saying something will happen "this day" (today) is not much of a prediction though.

I predict it will rain today.

@JoeMW 馃槄 I hope he learns to do the water into acid.

We all know jesus loves the acid.

There is nothing like religion to be guaranteed to start a bitter argument... so does that not rather prove/demonstrate how it makes people miss the point of faith...

And now most disappointingly, here I am allowing myself to be drawn in to the discussion.......
@LeoWulf
Correct! Which shows both good and radical elements exist in all religions. To single out any one particular religion as bad is a sign of pure ignorance.
All religions on earth are man reaching out towards God. Christianity is a lifestyle based on 'God reaching out to man.' That distinction is exclusive to Christianity alone. "There is no other name by which men may be saved."
@LeoWulf And that鈥檚 why I don鈥檛. After all, in my country a hate group has often gone by the full name of The Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. There鈥檚 also Westboro Baptist. I imagine most Christians I know wouldn鈥檛 wish to be compared to them any more than the Muslims I know want to be compared to ISIS.

@puck61 yes 馃憤

@Justme264 well I love football but encountering Jesus is much more amazing!
Piper61-69, F
@TheWildEcho Well, I don't love football.
TheWildEcho56-60, M
@Piper football isn't for everyone, but Jesus is!!
I must be missing something here. I don't understand this post. Was someone making fun of Jesus?
TheWildEcho56-60, M
@LadyGrace not at all, it's to make people think about what Jesus actually did on earth
@TheWildEcho But, "take naps on boats" almost seems like someone making fun of Jesus. And I'm not sure people really understand your meaning when you said "upset religious people". Some don't know the difference. Jesus's agenda was not to upset people, though some were, but to teach people, in love. I can see from the replies that some missed your meaning altogether.
th3r0n41-45, M
Well as long as you鈥檙e hanging out with those sinners to help them, and upsetting the holier than thou religious people who aren鈥檛 sincere with truth that smacks them in the face, then that鈥檚 a very good thing

@GodSpeed63
If you can't prove your point,
As anyone else can see, I already have. How about you proving yours for once? It'll be a first if you do.

@Sharon
As anyone else can see, I already have.
In case you hadn't noticed, Sharon, your bluffs don't work either.
SharonF
@GodSpeed63
your bluffs don't work either.
What bluffs are they. You seem unaware that I don't need to prove my point to you, no amount of evidence would convince you any. The evidence proving my point is clear for third parties to see and that's all that really matters. By continually denying that fact, you just keeping making yourself look even more foolish so please carry one.
