Christians: STOP telling Atheists that we don't believe in God because we don't WANT to believe in God. [Spirituality & Religion]

In addition to being completely wrong, it shows an understanding of the issue which is unacceptably shallow.

I'd love to believe in god or gods but what i believe is not dictated by what i want to believe.
Is that so hard to understand?

I asked a Q about God because I want Him to exist but I鈥檓 not sure. This guy started messaging me about it and he seemed really wise. When I politely laid down a contradiction to something he said, he insisted that I was lying about wanting to believe, and that I actually don鈥檛 want God to exist. 馃檮 Like he can tell from ONE conversation.
@SinlessOnslaught

Yeah that sort of thing happens a lot because it's part of their faith that if you seek him then you will find him...so if you haven't found god then you must not have earnestly tried.
The best thing to do is just agree to disagree. I don't get why that is so hard to understand among both Christians and Atheists.
@latinbutterfly

I'm happy to agree to disagree on whether god exists.
But I refuse to agree to disagree when someone else is dictating to me what i'm thinking or why i believe something.
In fairness, you can believe in something that isn't true through the desire to. People do it all the time. It's why people have such shit memories. Also why they cling to unscientific nonsense like conspiracies.

My advice to you would be to ignore the god element of religion and focus on the actual point to it.

Certainly.
@Pikachu Egads. I'm not used to you just agreeing haha

That's the truth. Skeptics don't want to believe because they have a misconception of who God is.
@GodSpeed63

Don't be so arrogant as to dictate to me what i believe and why.
I'd love to believe in god for a number of reasons but i can't choose to believe something i don't believe.

Arrogance is for liars, not for us who tell the truth.
