You're right. A lot of the newer Corsairs have survived throughout the recent years. The F4U-4s through F4U-7s all used the four bladed props and served in later wars like Korea and French and Indo-China.

I'm gonna go with coming towards us.
The propeller appears to be cutting off the line of the sun shining off the wing which means it's on our side of the wing.
Also, if the plane were facing away from us then we should see the same lighting on the tail fins that we see on the wings but since we don't, we must be looking at the front of those fins.

That's right. It's interesting that others see the plane going away from them. If you're not looking for the right clues, you wouldn't be able to determine which way the plane is heading.

@GodSpeed63 Another clue is the pitot tube which would not be as much in evidence if the plane were heading away from the camera. The pitot tube is on the leading edge of the wing and would be largely hidden behind the wing.
