Is Coronavirus good for the Atheist movement? [Spirituality & Religion]

People have lost their jobs, are forced into quarantine and generally, there is a foreboding morbid atmosphere and an ominous sense of futility and impending doom.

Does this mean that more people are probably going to get into Atheism now they've been forced to have a little taste of it?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Nah Christians are alive and well blaming the virus on gay people and the like. They'll be fine, there are always new religious conspiracies afoot to help keep the interest of believing in 3,000-year-old sheepherder myths alive.

@newjaninev2 You don't even know who I am talking about . Now that is funny!!!
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 think about what you’ve just said. Try to focus on the first and final parts, and perhaps you’ll get a clearer idea of why it’s a case in point.

Then again... probably not 😀
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 I know what I just said. Sadly you don't have the background to know what I just said. Enjoy your ignorance. don't worry toots you can deny it in the morning. You do it all the time.
Atheism isn’t a “movement”. That would imply rules or dogma. All atheism means is not believing in deities. There need be no other commonality of disbelief.
BlueVeins · 22-25
I doubt it, very few people were unaware that horrible things happen to begin with, and this is far from the height of awfulness in human life. If you didn't abandon religion when you learned about the Holocaust, you probably won't abandon it from COVID-19.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
How do you know?@BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Speedyman Well, the people who most resemble the victims of the holocaust are the people who I empathize the most with as it stands. People like the Rohingya in Myanmar, the Saudi apostates, and the poor folks of Tibet. So really, it's the only rational conclusion.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Not rational at all because there is no rationality to atheism. You are just day accident of nature and a bunch of chemicals so how do you know that your own feelings and rationality are rational after all? How do you know that your morals are the right morals as you have nothing to test your morals by?@BlueVeins
What does any of this coronavirus stuff have to do with atheism? How do you even think to mention the two in the same sentence?

Preachers are waiting for the virus to pass, so they can get back to healing people!!
IKR?! 🤦‍♀️

It's interesting how you speak like it's like an ideological battle 🤔

@Miram I love people like him 😂
They're so silly

But also divisive 👀
And potentially really closed minded
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@SW-User Its not like I picked a side, its more like that side picked me. Its a blessing and a duty.

(not the dirty Atheists if the aboves not clear enough)
Miram · 31-35, F
@SW-User Like jm31? he is harmless

But yes, if you mean my ex, he was extremely divisive and toxic to non-atheists. One of the many reasons I lost respect for him
Miram · 31-35, F
Trolling trolling trolling 😁

JBird · F
@canusernamebemyusername exactly my reaction too.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
No, actually worse. It's times like these when God and His word have even more impact on both believers and non-believers. While the division among people becomes more evident, God's intentions remain steadfast.
Carazaa · F
@MarkPaul that’s beautiful!
Carazaa · F
Sure, Jesus said in Revelation 9 that there will be plagues in the last days and people would still not repent but keep worshipping demons!

A little taste of what?

Atheism?
Atheism has been around at least as long as religion. I don't see how atheism would have been amplified somehow by the virus.

Now, I do think the leftist agenda does include the promotion of atheism. And, I do think the left has been trying to politicize the virus.

But, the virus is simply a crisis not to be wasted.
Atheism is a policy kind of thing - not subject to change.
well this question made the world seem a little more godless so at least you have that.
JBird · F
As an atheist, this is the first time I am hearing of it as a "movement". 🤣
It is reducing church attendance.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No it’s not because we’re meeting online. We are actually getting more people tuning into our church services@LeopoldBloom
Speedyman · 70-79, M
What’s this got to do with atheism? Apart from the fact that you again show that atheism is completely illogical and has no understanding of history
Pfuzylogic · M
One thing distinguishes someone that believes in God, the Holy Spirit, nothing else.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
I don't think it has any bearing on that whatsoever.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I think hardship or difficult times actually pushes people closer to the comfort of their religion. But maybe not for all.
