God says to meditate on His Word, day and night. Why? Because it feeds and helps you grow spiritually, and keeps your mind from drifting to thoughts that bring you down, spiritually.

James 1:8, ‘A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.’ The phrase, ‘double minded’ is from a Greek word which means to ‘hold two different opinions’ on the same issue. The word, ‘unstable’ means ‘inconsistent’. ‘Ways’ refer to his, ‘outlook, his conduct’. The instability of his conduct is a consequence of his doublemindedness.

You cannot think positively and negatively at the same time. Think on things that are healthy and encourage your spirit and you'll be so much the better for it, in a multitude of ways for the day.
