Here's a hornets nest! Can a Christian practice Shamanism or so called, "White Magic"? [Spirituality & Religion]

Wraithorn · 51-55, M
Is prayer not an attempt at practicing magic ? I might be wrong but it appears to me that way.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@Frank52 I understand. I'm not a christian though so I look frim a different point of view.

@Wraithorn It's magic. It as oft as not involves wishing that God would use its magical wishing power to grant one's wishes. Prayer isn't merely the one-way 'reporting in' kind of chit-chat.

@Success That's what I thought.
I think if you are living your own beliefs in a way you feel is true and right is likely the best path for you. If you know that what you are doing is wrong then you should probably stop.

I can't see why not. Christians regularly believe in chance- even though 'nothing is by chance'.

No. As a follower of Jesus Christ, you put your faith in Him, not in anything else.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
No not suppose to mess with that stuff.
Frank52 · 70-79, M
Not if they accept the injunctions of the Bible. Anyway, why would someone who professes complete allegiance to Jesus Christ chase after other things outside His teachings and those of the early church?
@Frank52 Have you ever wondered why Christ spat on the ground and made mud to rub in that mans eyes, when He could have just thought it so?
Frank52 · 70-79, M
@puck61 I notice that the gospels show is that each healing takes an individual and personal form of action on Jesus' part. In each case Jesus could have done whatever He wanted, but there seems to be an invitation to respond in faith for each person.

@waleskinder I stepped on one of those one time. My neighbor had a pear tree with a branch hanging over my fence, and pears fell on the grass & were decaying. Had on flip-flops and the side of my foot stepped on one.

@waleskinder Funny thing was I had drank some vinegar & water before I stepped outside, and as soon as it stung me I ran inside & poured straight vinegar on the sting, no more pain, not even a red spot.

" Ancient christian magic "

Esoteric Christiany. Early Christianity. Early christian amulet.

Simon Magus.

Before the first council of Nicea, pretty much.
I'm a Christian but I still keep power objects, and I still burn sage and throw salt from time to time.

@puck61 Burning sweet scented herbs while praying is in the Bible, it’s like incense. I burned cedar when I was a kid while cooking outdoors on a grill & praying. It was a peaceful moment during chaotic times.
