People & their religion [Spirituality & Religion]

I’ve just been blocked for politely disagreeing with a catholic person on here - he’s inviting everyone to ‘pray with him’ and one comment slightly out of line with his perfect vision and people get blocked!

This is why I hate religion- those who peddle it are terrible at actually convincing those who are undecided that their way is actually a half reasonable way to go! All they do is drive people to believe they’re whack jobs and morons.
But to be fair, go back and "listen" to yourself and all the criticism you're giving, as well. Sounds awful, and agreeing with someone who calls religious people idiots? Wow. Don't put or label all "religious" people as being the same. I haven't seen your remark to him. What did you say? Could he have taken it as a snyd remark or critical?

It's not even about religion. It's about everyone needing a Savior....a personal relationship with Jesus, since our sins separate us from God, until they are confessed and forgiven. I believe everyone here deserves a voice and to share any subject they wish, without criticism.

Disagree with your first para, agree with your second.

You see your first para is going straight on the attack! Why!? If you’re religious then aren’t you supposed to be peace loving and spread joy and forgiveness to people? God forbid anyone should disagree with your faith. @LadyGrace
@Chrisy1 My first paragraph was not an attack in the least. It wasn't even hostile. Your second paragraph totally inaccurate.

In which case you’re a very poor communicator & come across in a very antagonistic and aggressive manner when you try not to. Maybe stop poking your nose in to other people’s business if you can’t communicate effectively.

No need to respond, this is the end of the communication. @LadyGrace

Works the other way too, I've been blocked by atheists simply for believing in God, and mocked and sworn at.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@TheWildEcho Great!
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
Someone didn’t like your ‘non believer’ view did they!?! Haha @MasterLee
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Chrisy1 used to it
He's not Catholic. And even if he was, can't you see that you are acting with hate, yourself, when you say you hate religion (i.e. "those who peddle it"), and that doesn't make you hateful to have that attitude towards someone you don't know, just because you hate religious people, by your own admittance, and their posts? Hate is a critical word. And then you say you're not even against them?? Wow. You could have fooled us Christians.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
the word ‘wow’ makes your post an antagonistic one at the very least. And so what if I’m ‘hateful’ he pissed me off, so yeah I don’t friggin like him, what exactly has that got to do with you!?!
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
Okay but if he only invited people to do prayer it obviously meant he wasn't in a mood for debate ?

Well prayers are about collective energy. You can't have anything that distracts you from your intentions of prayer or it's effects get somewhat diminished.

So there's that. I'm not a religious person myself but some people may just need religions still. They haven't evolved yet and needn't be.

It's not really most people who have a faith or religion. The majority of people who are religious don't go around posting or preaching. It's a whole other extreme that does that. Most people just go about their business and believe whatever they do or don't. They don't need attention for it.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
That’s a good point - these extreme people ruin things for the regular ‘normal’ people in my opinion. @HannahSky

@Chrisy1 just pushes people away

Agreed! @HannahSky

If it's not religion, it's politics or something else. Some people want an echo chamber; they only want people who think and feel the same way they do and anyone else needs to be shut out.

Very true!@SW-User
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
I agree, religion truly is a disease. Don’t bother with those idiots though. Just mute them.
Chrisy1 · 18-21, F
You’re absolutely right - the thing that gets me is that I’m not even ‘against’ them as such, but hey, they immediately just get a little crazy! I can see how all the wars started in the Middle Ages!! @ShaythePanTransMan
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Chrisy1 Yeah, it’s very cult-like behavior. For sure. Religion has hurt so many....
MasterLee · 56-60, M
They can't handle facts
Success · 26-30, F
Although posters shouldn't expect that only appropriate people will respond it's probably best that only they do. On the other hand, some of the prayer requests are ridiculous: like "please pray for my neighbor's cat"
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
It's a communal conformity thing. If you show signs of questioning it, you become a dangerous thinker who might try to tempt the faithful away. Without safeguards like that though, too many would break free of the brainwashing and the religion would die. It's a survival technique for an idea.

Interesting commentary 👍@ViciDraco

Well that is good news kind sir! 😬@SW-User
I agree.

I have seen more hatred spewed at fellow believers here that I have ever encountered in real life. Even over a slightly different confession. I'm not even talking between faiths. Between fellow Christian believers.
