What do you think of Jehovah's Witnesses? [Spirituality & Religion]

do they get pissed when strangers knock on their doors at Halloween
I'm Italian we don't like any witnesses
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Unprepared for the apocalypse. There’s not many of them and they only hang around each other.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@wildbill83 This is so true. It’s definitely up there with cooky religions like Scientology.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I think they skipped over Matthew 24 in Bible study... 🤔

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." - Matthew 24:36

I wouldn't trust a fundamentalist JW as far as I could throw one... completely absent of any honor or integrity, don't possess an ounce of altruism.

They're against military service or any organization that supports veterans, have no loyalty to country/flag, don't volunteer for anything, won't donate blood, etc.

They basically just take up space. But aside from that, if they keep themselves and their quack, hokey beliefs away from me, I could care less about them...
I don't. They are entitled to their views, and as long as they are not directly bothering me, it's none of my business.
Same as evangelists... Ignorant people with a lot of guilt, who live in absolute fear of the unknown.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Very annoying!!! Trying to push their religion on you going door to door.
NickiHijab · F
🤷🏽‍♀️That'd very much depend on the individual.

I used to live across a jehovahs witnesses church and I'd talk to them as a kid. They were nice. My neighbour is a jehovah witness with a Muslim boy friend and she's alright. Even if she wasn't, I wouldn't base my opinion on an entire group based on her character alone because generalisations are dumb.
BalmyNites · F
They may seem harmless to start with, simple, casual friendliness on the doorstep, wanting to talk about their bible (The Watchtower). However, it was my experience years ago, that they tried to infiltrate my family & became quite decidedly hostile once they realised we weren’t interested in converting to their religion. I also do not agree with people who practise this religion physically preventing their children from having life-saving blood transfusions, to the point where these cases end up being decided by a Supreme Court judge.
wanting to talk about their bible
At that point, I'm more like "lets about about the actual Bible instead"

specifically Revelation 22:18-19 🤔
BalmyNites · F
@wildbill83 Funnily enough, I was only talking about that yesterday 😊
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@BalmyNites Yes. I'm glad I got out when I did.

@wildbill83 I love it! 😅

My longtime girlfriend of 12 years was raised in that religion but she has had almost nothing to do with it since her and I met. I've always tried to steer clear of it myself as I do with most all organized religion.

I try to be understanding that they're people who believe they need to spread word of their beliefs in that way.
Its some of the activities that some are required to take part in at times.
So I just be polite, listen to what they have to say and let them be on their way.
Most arent pushy and usually have given us fliers for their church and thats it.

Some are young kids and I choose not to make then more nervous than they probably already are.

I think it takes a lot of work to go to random strangers doors and deal with cranky people who arent interested
Ryansgrampy97 · 80-89, M
I deal with them the same way I deal with the Mormons who knock on my door. I answer in the nude, and they rarely come back.
I don't agree with them, but I think they are people with the right to worship as they choose.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Irritating kooks, at least the ones who knock on my door.
I don't judge them. They are who they are. If they knock on the door I might answer it naked with a shotgun but that's just because I don't like to be disturbed 🙂
HannahSky · F
Controlling
SW-User
@HannahSky I don’t answer the door unless Im ready to counter them with actual scripture.... and they don’t handle that well...
HannahSky · F
@SW-User I was sick once, she wanted to go get me some juice lol she stopped coming eventually

Some are very nice but no, I think they are in big error. But they are free to choose as they wish...
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Harmless but annoying.
They have a group which likes my neighborhood so I have had many at my front door
Entwistle · 56-60, M
They seem mostly nice people but I think they are wasting their lives.
SW-User
They're mostly polite
I give them a counter-offer of introducing them to the Church of Satan then show them the picture of the Satanic Temple statue in front of the Arkansas State Capitol...

Otherwise I tell them I have HIV. That usually does the trick.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
I have no opinion, I don't even know personally more than 3 Jehova's witnesses. If you're asking what I think about their belief system, I find it weirder than other religions at times, but that's about it.
HypnoChode · 46-50, M

The last JW woman I spoke with gave me a hard on.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@NCCindy My thoughts involved seeing her in a red leather devil themed catsuit.
NCCindy · 36-40, F
@Entwistle You better stay indoors during thunderstorms. The big guy is gonna smite you for thoughts like that
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@NCCindy A lightning bolt up the jacksy! No thanks..sorry God but you gave me a libido!
daisymay · 51-55, T
How are they still around? Surely, the 144,000th spot has already been filled?
walabby · 61-69, M
Annoying. One tried to charge me $1 for a free Watchtower.. :/
They are not hostile - nice people generally.
Nimbus · M
They're OK with an onion relish and some Chianti.
calicuz · 51-55, M
Nice people, but wouldn't want to join.

GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User Far from the case. Lots of harmful policies and issues with child abuse.

@SW-User Yup.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Some of them are very nice people
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
They don't fuck enough
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
I dont particularly like them but each to their own .I just had bad experiences as a child with a jehovahs family whos son I was friends with so avoid them like the plague .
Sharon · F
They're not as annoying or pushy as some of the other christian evangelists. I don't trust them though because they're too square - short hair, shaven and wearing suits. Uugh! :(
plinkplonk · F
I suspect they are like people from all other religions.

I personally do not know any.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I ignore them but then..I haven't even seen many of them in my life.
bravo55 · 70-79, M
The Italians don’t like them!
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Good and sincere people
