“Godhra”. The word is more than just the name of a town located in Panchmahal district in the western Indian state of Gujarat. The word used also indicates an event. A mind-numbing one. A horrifying one. An unimaginable one. A barbaric one. The word “Godhra” records the gruesome killing of some 59 innocent people, including 25 women and 15 children and injuries to 40 by a mob of 2000 fanatic Muslims on 27 February 2002. Independent India saw many horrors. This was one of the worst of them.

On 9 October 2017 the High Court of Gujarat State of India upheld the conviction of all 31 accused in the Godhra train burning case but commuted the death penalty of 11 to life imprisonment. Thus all 31 Muslims convicted have been given life imprisonment. Total 94 accused were standing trial, of whom 63 were acquitted by the trial court, which was also upheld by the High Court. This was a matter of outrage, a well armed mob of 2000 fanatic Muslims had roasted to coal 59 Ram sewaks including 15 children and 25 women returning from Ayodhya. Only 94 were tried and only 31 were convicted. Earlier on 22 February 2011 the trial court had also convicted exactly the same 31 Muslims, but given death penalty to 11 of them, and life imprisonment to remaining 20.

Now let us see the exact horrible, lurid details of the Godhra massacre of 27th February 2002 with the background. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) [literally “World Council of Hindus”] had organized a ‘Purnahuti Yagya’ (Yagya is a Hindu religious ceremony) in Ayodhya (holy Hindu city, in Uttar Pradesh state in North India where it is believed Lord Ram was born) in February-March 2002. It declared 15th March 2002 as the date for the beginning of the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya at the place which is a sacred site of the Hindus, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram. [Belgium-based world famous scholar Dr Koenraad Elst (1959-) has also written: “It is entirely obvious that a Hindu sacred site belongs to Hindus and to no one else.“] People participating in this ‘Yagya’ had simply participated and gone home. They did not stay in Ayodhya until 15th March, 2002 for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya at the undisputed site (majority of the undisputed land was owned by VHP and affiliated bodies and the SC in its order of 1994 had said that the undisputed land can be given to its owner).

People from all parts of the country went to Ayodhya, participated in this event, i.e. the Purnahuti Yagya and returned home from mid-February to 27th February 2002. A trainload of such people called ‘karsevaks’ or ‘Ramsevaks’ were returning to Ahmedabad city in the western Gujarat state from Ayodhya after participating in the Purnahuti Yagya. Whether they were all members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad or just ordinary people supporting the VHP’s stance on the Ram temple in Ayodhya is not known.

The train, the Sabarmati Express was supposed to reach Ahmedabad [The commercial capital and biggest city of Gujarat State of India, and also twin city of its specially planned capital city of Gandhinagar] early in the morning. It was running more than four hours late (Source: India Today, dated 11th March, 2002). It reached Godhra station at 7:42 am instead of the scheduled time of 2:55 am. Shortly after the train left the Godhra railway station at 7: 47 a.m., a mob of 2000 fanatic Muslims stopped it. This was 500-700 meters away from the Godhra railway station, at Signal Falia area, which is a densely populated Muslim area. The train was not burnt at the railway station, but at Signal Falia. That is why the attackers could not burn the train from outside. Had it been on a railway platform, they would not have found it too high. But at Signal Falia, it was too high. Hence, some of them entered the train cutting the vestible from the side coach number S-7 and set it afire from inside and then went out again. The mob was reportedly armed with petrol bombs, acid bombs and swords. The attackers poured petrol into the compartment and then set it afire. Two thousand people were standing on all sides of the compartment to prevent the karsevaks from running away and saving their lives from the fire. The karsevaks were literally caught between devil and the deep sea. There was fire inside and armed Muslims outside. 59 karsevaks were burnt to death in a most horrifying manner. Many of the bodies were charred horrifically. The victims included 25 women, 15 children, including some toddlers and some old people of above 65. They were all done to death in the most brutal manner.

Account of a 16-year-old Survivor

On 27th February, Gayatri Panchal, a young eleventh class student, was also amongst those who were returning from Ayodhya. She is a surviving witness to the inhuman atrocious cruelty in which right in front of her eyes two of her sisters and parents were burnt alive.

Harshadbhai Panchal, a resident of Ramol, left for karseva at Ayodhya on 22nd February, together with his wife, Neetaben and three daughters, Pratiksha, Chhaya and Gayatri. His sister-in-law, her son, her neighbour, Poojaben and her would-be husband were also accompanying him.

All of them were returning to Ahmedabad along with several other karsevaks. Harshadbhai and his family, Poojaben and her husband were in one compartment, while his sister-in-law and her husband and their son were in another compartment. The only survivor out of these ten, Gayatri, says about this horrible event that,

“On the 27th morning, at around 8 a.m. the train left Godhra Station. The karsevaks were loudly chanting the Ram Dhoon. The train had hardly gone a few meters, when it suddenly stopped. Somebody had perhaps pulled the chain to stop the train. Before anybody could know what had happened, we saw a huge mob approaching the train. People were carrying weapons like Gupti, Spears, Swords and such other deadly weapons in their hands and were throwing stones at the train. We all got frightened and somehow closed the windows and the doors of the compartment. People outside were shouting loudly, saying ‘Maro, Kato’ and were attacking the train. A loudspeaker from the Masjid closeby was also very loudly shouting ‘Maro, Kato, Laden na dushmano ne Maro.’ (“Cut, kill, kill the enemies of Laden”)These attackers were so fierce that they managed to break the windows and close the doors from outside before pouring petrol inside and setting the compartment on fire so that nobody could escape alive. A number of attackers entered the compartment and were beating the karsevaks and looting their belongings. The compartments were drenched in petrol all over. We were terrified and were shouting for help but who was there to help us? A few policemen were later seen approaching the compartment but they were also whisked away by the furious mob outside. There was so much of smoke in the compartment that we were unable to see each other and also getting suffocated. Going out was too difficult, however, myself and Pooja somehow managed to jump out through the windows. Pooja was hurt in her back and was unable to stand up. People outside were trying to hold us to take us away but we could escape and run under the burning train and succeeded in crawling towards the cabin. I have seen my parents and sisters being burnt alive right in front of my eyes.” Luckily, by the grace of God, Gayatri was not hurt too badly. “We somehow managed to go up to the station and meet our aunty (Masi). After the compartments were completely burnt, the crowd started withering. We saw that even amongst them were men, women and youngsters like us, both male and female. I returned here after evacuating the dead bodies of my family members at Godhra Station. Out of 18 of us, ten had laid their lives.”

In spite of what had happened, Gayatri still feels that she would any time once again venture to go for karseva. She says, “I shall not allow the sacrifice of my parents to go in vain” (Source: Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Gujarat and various English dailies such as The Indian Express dated 28th February, 2002).

A foreign daily Portsmouth Herald reported: “Sixteen-year-old Gayatri Panchal saw her mother, father and two sisters die before her eyes in the train fire as they returned home after participating in a religious ceremony at Ayodhya. ‘We were sleeping and I opened my eyes when I felt the heat. I saw flames everywhere. My mother was in flames, her clothes were on fire,’ she said. ‘Someone pulled me out of the compartment and then I saw my father’s body being taken out. He was covered in black. Then I fainted.’”

The Times of India reported 1 year later, on 27 Feb 2003: “For the four Panchal sisters — Komal (20), Avani (19), Gayatri (17) and Priyanka (15) — the last year has been full of tears. Their father Harshad Panchal, mother Mita Panchal, sisters Pratiksha and Chhaya fell prey to the barbarity in Godhra on February 27. And, life was never the same again.

The result. Gayatri, a topper in SSC, today is sickly and struggling with education at grade XII. Lost without their parents the girls often go to bed in tears, as memories of the tragedy come flooding back every day. Said Komal, “We are trying to get on with life but it is difficult. Life seems meaningless without the love and affection of parents.”

“After pelting stones, they started pouring kerosene in our compartments and set them afire. Only a few of us managed to come out of the broken windows. The adults and the old people were stuck inside. The old women were pleading, ‘don’t kill us’ but they just didn’t listen,” says Gayatri Panchal (16), who says 3-4 people ran after her as soon as she jumped off the train (The Indian Express, 28th February, 2002).

Sixty-five-year-old Devika Luhana was trembling with anger as she alighted from the ill-fated train. “It was vandalism at its worst. They did not even spare old people like me and pelted stones indiscriminately. They will all go to hell for this act of malice,” said Devika, who could not even retrieve her bag as she ran for her life.

“They stormed inside the women’s bogie, and before we could react, they set the entire bogie on fire. Some of us managed to escape, but a number of our sisters got trapped…it was horrifying,” said Hetal Patel, a member of Durga Vahini [a women’s youth wing of VHP].

Terror still haunts 13-year-old Gyanprakash as he bursts into tears from time to time. “I cannot forget the sight of people burning in front of me,” he says while recuperating at the Ahmedabad city hospital. Gyanprakash was on the S2 coach of the Sabarmati Express when it was set ablaze in Godhra on Wednesday. His family was returning to Ahmedabad after attending a relative’s funeral. They had boarded the train at Kanpur. Gyanprakash recalls the horror: “The train had just left Godhra but stopped a little way away from the station. Suddenly, stones were being thrown at the train. The pelting continued for almost an hour. Then something was hurled into our coach and there was smoke everywhere.

“It was so suffocating I could hardly breathe. I heard my father telling me to get off the train. I went to the door but saw that people trying to get off were being stabbed. I went to the other side and jumped off” (Mid-Day, 6th March, 2002).

That is, old women were pleading: “Don’t kill us” but the attackers did not spare anyone, neither children nor old people, and certainly not the women. Most horrific was the attackers’ act of not allowing anyone to escape and watching with their eyes 59 Hindus roasting to death, crying with pain, pleading for mercy. (Those who did come out like Gayatri Panchal were also tried to be pushed back.) Had the 2,000 attackers shot dead, these 59 people with bullets, it would not have been so horrific. Had they set afire the train and ran away, it would not have angered the masses so much. But these attackers were indescribable barbarians. They watched and pushed back into fire the victims including 15 children and roasted to death in a horrific manner 59 Hindus returning from Godhra..

But this was not the first time, nor the last time, that the town witnessed communal vandalism. The town had a long history of bloody communalism. It was well-known for it. Let us take a brief look at the town’s long history of bloody communal riots.

Communal History of Godhra for the Record

Godhra is the main centre of Panchmahal district, which is considered to be communally very sensitive. Chronology of a few communal riots/atrocities is appended below:

1927-28: Murder of P.M. Shah, a leading local representative of Hindus.

1946: Mr. Sadva Hazi and Mr. Chudighar, pro-Pakistani Muslim leaders were responsible for attack on a Parsi Solapuri Fozdar during communal riots. After partition, Mr. Chudighar left for Pakistan.

1948: Mr. Sadva Hazi conspired an attack on the District Collector, Mr. Pimputkar in 1948 but his bodyguard saved him at the cost of his own life. After that, Mr. Sadva Hazi also left for Pakistan in 1948.

On 24th March, 1948, one Hindu was stabbed to death near a mosque in Jahurpur area. Around 2,000 houses of Hindus were burnt, besides Hindu temples. District Collector Pimputkar could save the remaining areas belonging to Hindus by imposing curfew, which lasted for six months.

1965: Shops belonging to the Hindus were set ablaze near police chowki No. 7 by throwing incendiary material from the nearby two Muslim houses, viz. Bidani and Bhopa. It could be possible allegedly because of the Congress MLA belonging to the minority community. PSI of this police chowki, which was near the Railway Station, was also attacked by anti-social elements.

1980: A similar attack was made on the Hindus on 29th October, 1980, which started from the Bus Station of Godhra. This attack was planned by Muslim miscreants who were involved in anti-social activities near the Station Road area.

Five Hindus including two children of five and seven years of age were burnt alive. A Gurudwara was also set on fire, in Shikari Chal of this area. Forty shops belonging to the Hindus were also set on fire in station area. Due to these communal riots, Godhra was put under curfew for a year, which severely affected the business and industries.

1990: Four Hindu teachers, including two women teachers, were murdered (cut into pieces) by miscreants in Saifia Madarsa in Vhorvada area of Godhra on 20th November, 1990 in front of children. One Hindu tailor was also stabbed to death in this area. All this was done by anti-social elements allegedly at the instance of the Congress MLA of the area.

1992: More than 100 houses belonging to the Hindus were set on fire near the Railway Station in the year 1992 to snatch away this area from Hindus. This area in 2002 was lying vacant as most of the Hindu families have shifted elsewhere.

2002: The bogies of Ahmedabad-bound Sabarmati Express were set on fire on 27th February, 2002 by Muslim miscreants. S-6 coach carrying karsewaks returning from Ayodhya was targeted as a pre-meditated plan/ conspiracy. 59 innocent men, women and children died and 40 sustained injuries. The attackers had a plan to set on fire the entire train but could not do so because the train was late for four hours and they could not take the advantage of darkness of night.

2003 September: Ganesh idol immersion saw stone pelting and conflicts between Hindus and Muslims. This was reported by rediff.com and The Times of India, but was forgotten by everyone, including the Sangh Parivar leadership.

2002 March: On 13 March 2002, a mob of 500 Muslims again attacked Hindus in Jahurpura area of Godhra near the Old Bus Stand. The report of NDTV was:

“Mob Attack in Godhra, 12 Arrested

Wednesday, March 13, 2002 (Godhra): Within a fortnight of the February 27 railway station mayhem and subsequent violent fallout, tension escalated again today with a minority mob allegedly attacking people in the town, leading to police firing. Police said a ‘500-people strong mob of minority community’ attacked people in the Jahurpura area near the Old Bus Stand. They resorted to stone pelting and also ‘opened fire’ with private arms, police said. Police opened fire and hurled tear gas shells to disperse the mob. There was no report of any injury or casualty so far.

Additional forces of police, State Reserve Police and anti-riot Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel led by senior DSP, Raju Bhargava, rushed to the spot and carried out a combing operation. ‘Twelve persons including two women were picked up from a nearby place of worship,’ police said. The situation was under control but tense, police said” (Source: NDTV web).

This was the story carried by NDTV. NDTV, which is similar to Communists as far as anti-Hindu ideology is concerned, reported that Muslims attacked Hindus in Godhra again soon after the 27th February carnage. This magazine is considered as a mouthpiece of Indian Muslims or at least a voice of Muslims in India. This is the Indian Muslims’ leading English newspaper and it has also published these details about Godhra.

After the 2002 Godhra carnage, the Nanavati Commission was appointed to probe the carnage which was a full-fledged Commission of Inquiry under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952. It submitted its report on the Godhra carnage in September 2008. The report said: “Godhra town is a very sensitive place. There is a high percentage of Muslim population in various places in the district. Communal riots had taken place in Godhra in the years 1925, 1928, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1953, 1980, 1981, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992. The communal riots that had taken place in 1948 were very serious. Initially, the Muslims had burnt 869 houses of Hindus. Thereafter, the Hindus had burnt 3,071 houses of Muslims”.

Can anyone imagine 2,000 Hindus burning to death 59 Muslims at Karachi Railway Station in Pakistan? If Hindus had mustered courage to do that, each and every Hindu in Pakistan would have been killed.

Palestinian leaders stoked the flames of violence during September and October 2015, spreading false information about Israel's actions surrounding the Temple Mount. Mahmoud Abbas stated that Israelis were “desecrating” Muslim holy sites the al-Aqsa Mosque and Church of the Holy Sepulchre with their “filthy feet,” and encouraged Palestinians to carry out acts of violence against Jewish Israelis. The wave of violence experienced during late 2015 was due mostly to a Palestinian perception that the Israelis were going to somehow change the rules of who could access the Temple Mount, undermining Muslim supremacy at the holy site. The Israeli government issued official statements clarifying that there was no intention of changing the status-quo at the Temple Mount, but Palestinian leaders continued to incite violence against Israeli Jews through speeches and posts on social media. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh declared Friday, October 9, to be a “day of rage... a day that will represent that start of a new Intifada in all the land of Palestine.” (Independent, October 9, 2015) U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon travelled to Israel in attempts to quell the violence on October 20. The Israeli Knesset passed a law on November 3, 2015, imposing a mandatory minimum 3-year sentence for stone-throwers who fling rocks at Israelis.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has repeatedly referred to these stabbing attacks as a “justified, popular uprising,” and has praised the bravery of the attackers. While on a visit to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lampur, Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal stated on December 10, 2015, that, “The so-called peace process is futile. There is no peace. Only the path of Jihad, sacrifice, and blood will bear fruit.” Members of the Palestinian Authority governing cabinet placed condolence calls to families of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli police after stabbing, shooting, or ramming Israeli citizens with their cars.

The government of the Jerusalem municipality began installing special additional shielding at 300 bus stops in the capital during December 2015. Due to the wave of attacks, steel columns were erected surrounding certain bus stops to deter terrorists from launching car-ramming attacks against Israelis waiting for their bus.

According to data compiled by the Israeli Shin Bet Security Agency, 2015 was the deadliest year for terrorism since 2008. Twenty-eight people were killed in terror attacks on Israel during 2015: two foreigners, one Palestinian, three members of Israeli security services, and twenty-two civilians.

In an effort to reduce the frequency of attacks, the Israeli government announced on March 23, 2016 that they had arrested over 1,200 Palestinian workers in Israel without proper permits during the previous month. Israeli police arrested 150 Israeli and Palestinian employers for not posessing proper permits to employ the Palestinians as well.

In 2016, 12 vehicular ramming attacks and 100 stabbing attacks were prevented by security forces. In all, 344 major attacks were prevented and 108 attacks were carried out.

In 2017, 54 terrorist attacks were successfully carried out. 400 terrorist attacks, including 13 suicide attacks and 8 kidnappings, as well as 1,100 potential lone-wolf attacks, were prevented.

As of February 2018, there had been 192 stabbing attacks and 139 attempted stabbings; 173 shooting attacks; 61 vehicular (ramming) attacks, and one bus bombing targetted at Israelis during the uptick in violence begining in September 2015. Sixty-two individuals have been killed in these attacks.

Below you can find a list of all major terror attacks perpetuated during this “stabbing intifada.” This list does not include minor attacks or attacks that were thwarted with no incident or injury.
2015

September 13, Jerusalem: Rock attack at a car, on Erev Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), resulted in death of driver, Alexander Levlovitz. Four Palestinian youths arrested.

October 1, Nablus: Near Nablus in Samaria: Rabbi Eitam Henkin (31) and wife Naama (30) murdered in a drive-by shooting while traveling with their four young children (aged 9, 7, 4, and 4 months). Security forces arrested members of Hamas cell responsible.

October 3, Jerusalem: Two killed in stabbing attack near Lion’s Gate. Aharon Banita-Bennet (22) was stabbed to death on the way to the Western Wall in the Old City on Saturday evening with his wife and two young children. His wife and two-year-old son were wounded. Rabbi Nehemia Lavi (father of seven), who came to the aid of the Banita-Bennett family, was attacked and stabbed to death. Police shot and killed the attacker.

October 4, Jerusalem: Moshe Malka (15) was stabbed and wounded (near light rail stop) on his way to prayers at the Western Wall. Terrorist was shot dead by security forces.

October 7: Petach Tikva: Knife attack at shopping mall wounded one man. The knife broke, preventing further victims. Bystanders apprehended the terrorist.

Gush Etzion: Judea, south of Jerusalem – woman (38), driving from her home in Tekoa, was attacked by Arabs, who threw rocks at her and tried to drag her from her car. Lightly wounded, she succeeded in closing the car door and escaped.



Jerusalem: Palestinian woman (18) stabbed 36-year-old Jewish man at Lion’s Gate of the Old City. The victim, moderately wounded, shot and wounded the terrorist.

Kiryat Gat: (southeast of Tel Aviv) – terrorist stabbed an IDF soldier and snatched his gun, then ran into a nearby apartment, where a woman was just returning home. She fought with him and managed to flee. The terrorist was killed by police.

October 8, Tel Aviv: Female soldier and three others stabbed. Terrorist was shot and killed.

Jerusalem: Yeshiva student (25) was seriously injured and another man lightly injured in stabbing attack near the light rail. Terrorist (age 19) arrested.

Kiryat Arba (Jewish town near Hebron, south of Jerusalem): Man (31) seriously wounded in stabbing attack. Victim evacuated to Jerusalem hospital. Terrorist escaped.

Afula (town in Galilee): Soldier stabbed by Arab (20, from Jenin in West Bank), who was apprehended by bystanders and held for police. The soldier was taken to hospital in moderate-to-serious condition.

October 9, Samaria, northwest of Jerusalem: Five Israelis, three of them children, were lightly wounded by rocks thrown at their vehicle.

Jerusalem (Shmuel HaNavi St.): Jewish boy (16) was beaten and stabbed and lightly injured. Attacker (18, from Hebron in West Bank) was later apprehended by police.

Kiryat Arba: Terrorist stabbed a police officer (47) and tried to grab his gun. Other officers shot him.

Afula: Female terrorist tried to stab a security guard at the Central Bus Station. She was shot and wounded.

October 10, Jerusalem: (Sabbath morning) Arab (16) stabbed two Jewish men in their 60s near Damascus Gate, leaving them moderately and lightly wounded, respectively. The terrorist then attacked Border Police officers, who shot and killed him.

Jerusalem (near Damascus Gate): Palestinian (19, from Shuafat) stabbed two police officers. Nearby police shot and killed him, and accidently wounded a third officer. Officers in serious-to-moderate condition.

Jerusalem (Shmuel HaNavi St.): Bus driver lightly injured by stones thrown at the bus.

Gush Etzion (south of Jerusalem): Woman (53) lightly injured by broken glass when stones were thrown at her car.

October 11, Maaleh Adumim-Jerusalem highway: Police officer lightly injured when he pulled over a driver acting suspiciously, and the (female) driver set off an explosive device. Gas canisters were found in the car. The terrorist was seriously wounded.

Northern Israel, between Hadera and Afula): Four injured at bus station in a combined ramming/stabbing attack. Terrorist first rammed his car into two of the victims, then got out and started stabbing. The terrorist (20, from Umm el Fahm in northern Israel) was apprehended with the help of bystanders.

October 12, Jerusalem: Stabbing attack foiled at Lion’s Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City. Terrorist (18, from eastern Jerusalem) was shot and killed.

Jerusalem (Ammunition Hill, northern Jerusalem): Border policeman was stabbed and lightly injured by a female terrorist (16). The officer managed to shoot and stop her, and she was evacuated to hospital.

Jerusalem (Pisgat Zeev in northern Jerusalem): Two terrorists (ages 13 and 17) stabbed and seriously wounded a man (25) and a boy (13) riding his bicycle. Police shot and killed one terrorist and apprehended the second. The second perpetrator, identified as 13 year old Ahmed Manasra, recovered in an Israeli hospital and confessed to the attack and his motives.

Jerusalem: near bridge at entrance to city, 8:30 pm: Terrorist (22) on bus stabbed a soldier (19) and tried to grab his gun. After a struggle, the terrorist was shot and killed by a police officer.

October 13, Ra’anana (center of country, northeast of Tel Aviv): Two stabbing attacks in the morning, an hour apart: The first at a bus stop in the center of town, in which a man (32) suffered light wounds; the attacker (22, from eastern Jerusalem) was subdued by passers-by and held until the police arrived. The second attack resulted in one seriously wounded and three lightly wounded; the terrorist (a construction worker at nearby Beit Levinstein) was arrested.

Jerusalem: Shooting and stabbing attack on bus in southern Jerusalem neighborhood (Armon Hanatziv). Two (ages 60 & 45) killed, 15 wounded, several seriously. Police shot and killed one of the 2 terrorist perpetrators and apprehended the second (both from Jabel Muqaber). One of the injured victims (76 year old Richard Lakin) died of his wounds two weeks later.

Jerusalem: Ramming-stabbing attack at a bus stop not far from the Central Bus Station. One killed, several injured. The perpetrator, a resident of eastern Jerusalem (Jabel Muqaber), was an employee of Bezeq, Israel’s main telephone service provider.

October 14, Jerusalem (Central Bus Station): A 50-year old Israeli woman was injured in a stabbing attack at the Jerusalem Center Bus Station as she was boarding a bus. The assailant, identified as 23 year old Ahmed Shaaban, was shot and killed after he attempted to attack security officers who arrived on scene.

Jerusalem (Old City Damascus Gate): 19 year old Bassel Sader attempted to stab multiple Israeli security officers after they approached him, but was shot and killed as he ran at members of the Israeli security forces brandishing a knife. Bystanders were injured by gunfire.

October 16, Nablus (Joseph's Tomb): Approximately 100 Palestinians descended on Joseph's Tomb, throwing molotov cocktails and lighting part of the complex ablaze. A Palestinian dressed in false "press" gear stabbed an Israeli security officer, was shot and taken into custody.

October 17, Hebron: An Israeli member of the IDF Givati brigades was lightly wounded in a stabbing attack by a knife-wielding Palestinian on October 17, 2015. The attacker was shot by Israeli security forces on the scene, and was taken to an Israeli hospital in critical condition.

Armon Hanatziv: A 16 year old Palestinian assailant came at an Israeli security officer with a knife, and was shot and killed. The security officer was stabbed in the hand, and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Hebron: A Palestinian woman approached an Israeli border-patrol checkpoint and tried to stab an IDF officer. The officer was lightly injured in the ensuing struggle, and the terrorist was killed.

Qalandiya refugee district: A Palestinian man tried to stab Israeli officers at a security checkpoint. After being apprehended the assailant pulled another hidden knife and attempted to stab the officers who were searching him. He was shot dead on the scene.

October 18, Beersheva: 21 year old Palestinian assailant Muhanad Alukabi took the rifle of 19 year old Israeli soldier Omri Levy, and killed him with it. He opened fire in a crowded bus station with the rifle, and injured 11 other people. An Eritrean immigrant was shot by an Israeli security guard and beaten to death by an Israeli mob, suspected of being a second attacker.

Nablus (Joseph's Tomb): Thirty Israeli Yeshiva students were attacked by Palestinians and PA security forces as they entered Nablus in an attempt to repair the damage done to Joseph's Tomb by Palestinian rioters during the previous week.

October 20, West Bank (Hebron Hills): An Israeli soldier was stabbed and lightly wounded by a Palestinian terrorist, who was then apprehended by Israeli security forces after being shot on the scene.

Hebron (Fawwar): 50 year old Israeli citizen Avraham Asher Hasano was driving in Fawwar, south of Hebron, when Palestinians began pelting his car with stones and he was unable to drive. He exited his vehicle to inspect the damage done and was hit by a truck and killed. The truck driver turned himself into police.

Gush Etzion: A terrorist attempted to ram a group of Israelis standing at a bus stop, but hit the concrete barriers with his car instead. After getting out of the vehicle he wounded an IDF soldier and an Israeli civilian before being shot dead by Israeli security forces.

Hebron: Two Palestinians were shot and killed after they attacked Israeli soldiers with knives. The soldiers were lightly wounded.

October 21, West Bank (Silwad): A Palestinian was driving and deliberately ran into an Israeli police officer at a security checkpoint in Ofra, wounding the officer as well as three other individuals standing with him. He then drove away and eventually was captured after he fled on foot to Silwad.


West Bank (Geva Benyamin): A 19 year old female Israeli soldier was stabbed in the neck in an attack by two knife-wielding Palestinians. One of the perpetrators was shot on site and died, and the other was apprehended calmly.

Yitzhar (Nablus): A 15 year old Palestinian girl attempted to enter the Israeli settlement of Yitzhar with a knife, and was shot when she brandished the knife at Israeli security forces. She was taken to an Israeli hospital to recover.

West Bank (Beit Omar): Palestinian youths were throwing rocks at an IDF vehicle as it drove past on route 60, and six soldiers stepped out of the vehicle to approach the rock throwers as backup arrived at the scene. After they exited the car, a Palestinian driving well above the speed limit rammed his car into the group of Israeli soldiers, running over and seriously injuring five of them. A sixth soldier who was unharmed in the ramming attack shot the terrorist as they drove away.

October 22, Beit Shemesh: Two Palestinian 20-somethings randomly stabbed an 18 year old Israeli, and were shot. One was taken to an Israeli hospital and one died on the scene. One of the perpetrators was a member of Hamas, and both of them were wearing shirts bearing the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades insignia. The attackers originally attempted to board a bus full of children, but the driver thought they looked suspicious and did not let them on the bus.

Hebron: Two Palestinian attackers attempted to stab an IDF soldier in a suburb of Hebron. The soldier was able to push the assailants back and fired his weapon in the air, scaring off the potential attackers. Nobody was hurt in the attack.

October 23, Gush Etzion: An IDF soldier was stabbed in the back by a Palestinian, who was then promptly shot in the leg and taken into custody. Both the victim and the perpetrator were taken to Israeli hospitals and treated for their wounds.

Hebron: A Palestinian woman approached a group of Israeli security officers and pulled out a knife, she was subdued by police.

West Bank (Beit El): A four-year old girl was badly injured and the rest of her family mildly, when a firebomb was thrown at their moving vehicle. The little girl sustained burns to 35% of her body.

October 25, Gush Etzion: Palestinian teens were throwing large rocks at vehicles near the settlement of Metzad. An Israeli driver of one of the vehicles stepped out of his car to inspect the damage done and conftront the rock-throwers, and was stabbed in the chest.

West Bank (Ariel): A 25-year old Jewish man was found sitting near the entrance to the city of Ariel by Israeli security forces with mutliple stab wounds to his upper body. A suspect was later arrested.

Hebron: A 17-year old Palestinian girl was shot and killed when she attempted to stab Jewish security officers at the Cave of the Patriarchs

October 26, Kiryat Arba: A 19-year-old IDF soldier was stabbed in the neck multiple times by a female Palestinian terrorist on October 26, 2015. The perpetrator of the attack was then shot and killed as she attempted to flee the scene.

October 27, Gush Etzion: An Israeli soldier was stabbed in the head by two attackers, who were shot and killed as they attempted to flee the scene.

October 28, Gush Etzion: A 40-year old Israeli woman was stabbed in her upper body by a Palestinian as she was walking to her car in a supermarket parking lot. The victim was lightly injured, and the attacker originally managed to escape but was later apprehended.

Kiryat Arba: A Palestinian man pulled a knife on a group of Israeli soldiers at a security checkpoint, he was shot and killed. This attempted attack happened at the same security checkpoint that a Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli soldier at three days prior.

October 29, Hebron: A Palestinian assailant stabbed an Israeli security officer in the head, lightly injuring him. The officer was able to recover quickly and chase the attacker, and the attacker was shot and killed by other soldiers standing nearby.

Hebron: A knife-wielding Palestinian tried to stab an Israeli, was subsequently shot and killed.

October 29, Ammunition Hill: A Palestinian man stabbed and badly wounded a U.S. citizen in Jerusalem on October 29, and tried to stab another bystander when Israeli security forces shot the man. A stray bullet hit an Israeli, and both of the injured were treated at Israeli hospitals.

Taqiyya! The disgusting practice of lying to non-muslims!!

Taqiyya is a concept and a reality that non-Muslims must bear in mind when reading or listening to the words of Muslims.

Taqiyya (also spelled taqiya or taqiyyah) is lying to advance Islam and/or to prevent harm to Muslims (taqiyya literally means "prevention").

Muslims justify taqiyya from the Quran, other Islamic texts and the example set by Muhammad, including the following:

"The Apostle said...'Who will rid me of Ibnul Ashraf?' Muhammad bin Maslama, brother of the Bani Abdul-Ashaf, said, 'I will deal with him for you, O Apostle of Allah, I will kill him.' [Muhammad] said, 'Do so if you can... All that is incumbent upon you is that you should try.' [The Assassin] said, 'O Apostle of Allah, we shall have to tell lies.' He answered, 'Say what you like, for you are free in the matter.'" - Ibn Ishaq, The Life of Muhammad, page 307

"The Prophet said, 'War is deceit.'" - Volume 4, Book 52, Hadith 269

"By Allah, and Allah willing, if I take an oath and later find something else that is better than that, then I do what is better and expiate my oath." - Volume 7, Book 67, Hadith 427

When non-Muslims confront Muslims about truth facts that are inconvenient to Muslims (e.g., Hitler and Islam), Muslims often lie (see Muslim Brotherhood), even on record and in front of other Muslims, who do not appear surprised since they also know about taqiyya (as well as kitman - the related practice of telling half-truths).

Without knowing about taqiyya, non-Muslims are liable to believe Muslims' lies, especially given the nonchalant reactions from the other Muslims around.

What about the Bible? Does it promote lying or at least some room for it?

The Bible and Jesus are unequivocal in condemning lying. Jesus told us to never lie, even under duress:

"You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’" - Luke 18:20

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels." - Luke 9:26

It should also be noted that Jesus identified the Satanic origin of lying:

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." - John 8:44

After praising Allah, the sheikh's fatwa, Abu al-Dema al-Qasab began by declaring that sodomy is forbidden in Islam. BUT, however, paedo boy Aasab continues with his cultivated, Islamic taqiyyah by then declaring - and, oh, this is so risable that it beggars belief - that:-
'jihad comes first, for it is the pinnacle of Islam, and if the pinnacle of Islam can only be achieved through sodomy, then there is no wrong in it. For the overarching rule of [Islamic] jurisprudence asserts that "necessity makes permissible the prohibited." Some Muslims are fond of condemning western morality – alcoholism, nudity, premarital sex and homosexuality often being cited as examples. But Muslims do not have a monopoly on morality. In the west, child marriages and sex with children are illegal. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many Muslim countries.

I recently saw the documentary on the Dancing Boys of Afghanistan. It exposed an ancient custom called "bacha bazi" (boy for play), where rich men buy boys as young as 11 from impoverished families for sexual slavery. The boys are dressed in women's clothes and made to dance and sing at parties, before being carted away by the men for sex. Owning boys is considered a symbol of status and one former warlord boasted of having up to 3,000 boys over a 20-year period, even though he was married, with two sons. The involvement of the police and inaction of the government means this form of child prostitution is widespread.

The moral hypocrisy is outrageous in a country where homosexuality is not only strictly forbidden but savagely punished, even between two consenting adults. However, men who sodomise young boys are not considered homosexuals or paedophiles. The love of young boys is not a phenomenon restricted to Afghanistan; homosexual pederasty is common in neighbouring Pakistan, too. In my view, repression of sexuality and extreme gender apartheid is to blame.

And in the Middle East, it's young girls who are considered desirable and men are able to satisfy their lusts legally through child marriages. In Yemen, more than a quarter of girls are married before the age of 15. Cases of girls dying during childbirth are not unusual, and recently, one 12-year-old child bride even died from internal bleeding following sexual intercourse. In another case, a 12-year-old girl was married to an 80-year-old man in Saudi Arabia.

So why is the practice of child marriage sanctioned in Muslim countries? Unfortunately, ultra-conservative religious authorities justify this old tribal custom by citing the prophet Muhammad's marriage to Aisha. They allege Aisha was nine years old when the prophet married her. But they focus conveniently on selected Islamic texts to support their opinions, while ignoring vast number of other texts and historical information, which suggests Aisha was much older, putting her age of marriage at 19. Child marriage is against Islam as the Qur'an is clear that intellectual maturity is the basis for deciding age of marriage, and not puberty, as suggested by these clerics.

Whatever one's view on the prophet's marriage, no faith can claim moral superiority since child marriages have been practised in various cultures and societies across the world at one time or another. In modern times, though, marrying children is no longer acceptable and no excuse should be used to justify this.

I find the false adherence to Islamic principles and the "holier than thou" attitude of some Muslim societies similar to the blatant hypocrisy and double standards of 19th-century Victorian Britain, where the outward appearance of dignity and prudishness camouflaged an extreme prevalence of sexual and moral depravity behind closed doors. In those days, too, there were many men willing to pay to have sex with children – until a plethora of social movements arose that resulted in changes in laws and attitudes in society.

A similar shift in social attitudes is also required in traditional Muslim societies. Having boy sex slaves or child brides should not be seen as badges of honour. Instead, Muslims need to do more to attach shame to such practices; otherwise, acceptance of this behaviour will make them complicit in the sexual exploitation of children. I fail to understand why Muslims are so vocal on abuses by the west in Abu Ghraib, Guantánamo, Iraq and Afghanistan, but display moral blindness when it comes to children? It's about time this silence was broken, so these violations of innocence can be stopped.

A too-passive attitude in dealing with child abuse has rubbed off on Muslim communities in Britain, too. I have heard many stories at first hand of child sexual abuse and rape, which show that the issue is not being addressed at all. Those who have had the courage to speak out have been met with reactions of denial and shame. Such attitudes mean that children will continue to suffer in silence. Sexual abuse of children happens in all communities, as has been revealed by the recent Catholic church scandal. At least, they have finally started to take action. Muslim communities should learn from this and also start being more open, instead of continuing to sweeping the issue under the carpet.

I am finding that more and more Muslims feel it is their duty to criticise others for actions they consider sinful – quoting the following popular saying of Muhammad to justify their interference:

"If you see something wrong, you should correct it with your hand and if you are unable to, then speak out against it and if you cannot do that, then feel that it is wrong in your heart."

I wonder how, then, Muslims can remain silent when it comes to the sexual abuse of children?

Another error. Muslims do [u]not[/u] believe Jesus is the Son of God; that He is our Savior. In Islam, Allah [u]only[/u] reserves love for those who "do good" (Surah 2:195, 3:134, 148, 5:93). Therefore, if you don't fight for Allah, you will not be loved by him. In fact, there are groups of people that the Quran says Allah [b]does not love. [/b]

Let's look at the truth here. Muslims who say that Islam is respectful of Jesus and Christianity are taking the 40,000 foot view. What they really mean is that the character of Jesus is mentioned in the Quran as a [b]prophet[/b]...not the Savior of the world, which then, isn't all that meaningful. In truth, Islam does not respect the Jesus of the Bible, the Christian faith or even Christians. It is hostile to all three.

What Muslim apologists won't tell you is that the Quran specifically labels Christians as blasphemers (5:17 , 5:72) who invent a lie about Allah (10:68-69) - the worst of crimes - and will thus suffer in Hell.

The United Nations has warned that a recent pause in international terrorist violence may soon end, with a new wave of attacks possible before the end of the year.

In a report, specialist monitors at the UN security council paint a worrying picture of a global Islamist extremist movement that continues to pose a significant threat despite recent setbacks.

The authors raise concerns about up to 30,000 foreigners who travelled to the “caliphate” to fight and who may still be alive.

“Their future prospects will be of international concern for the foreseeable future,” the report says. “Some may join al-Qaida or other terrorist brands that may emerge. Some will become leaders or radicalisers.”

The report is based on information supplied by intelligence agencies of UN member states, and provides a glimpse of collective thinking among security services around the world.

It notes that, though the geographical caliphate of Islamic State has ceased to exist, member states agree many of the underlying factors that gave rise to [Islamic State] still exist, which suggests that the threat from it and al-Qaida, or similar groups is unlikely to decline further.

Though there have been fewer successful attacks since 2015 and 2016, when extremists killed hundreds of people in France, Belgium and Germany, the threat to Europe “remains high”.

A major concern is the radicalisation of prison “inmates afflicted by poverty, marginalisation, frustration, low self-esteem and violence ”. A further challenge is the imminent release of some of the first wave of returnees to be imprisoned after returning from the Islamic State’s caliphate, which was established across a swath of land in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

“Deradicalisation programmes have not proven to be fully effective …. The most combat-hardened fighters serving longer sentences are not yet approaching release from prison. They remain dangerous and continue to pose a challenge both inside and outside the penal system,” the report notes.

European states estimate that as many as 6,000 of their citizens travelled to Iraq and Syria to join Isis or other extremist groups. About a third were killed, while another third remain detained in the region or have travelled elsewhere.

Two thousand or more may have returned to Europe, the report says.

The challenge posed by dependants of foreign terrorist fighters living in overcrowded displacement camps in Syria where US-backed militia are holding thousands of militants and their family members is also significant.

Isis members brought a large number of children into territories run by the group or bore babies who are now orphaned, destitute or even stateless, and whose future is uncertain.

Western countries have so far been unwilling to take back citizens who went to Syria to join Islamic State – seeing them as a security risk if they return home but knowing they may be unable to prosecute them.

According to the report, Isis has access to between $50m and $300m remaining from the revenues of the caliphate and is using propaganda to maintain the group’s reputation as the leading global terrorist brand – the “virtual caliphate”.

“When it has the time and space to reinvest in an external operations capability, Isil [Islamic State] will direct and facilitate international attacks in addition to the Isil-inspired attacks that continue to occur in many locations around the world …. The current abatement of such attacks, therefore, may not last long, possibly not even until the end of 2019.”

The report says Isis leaders did not have advanced knowledge about bloody attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.

The report notes that al-Qaida remains resilient, but points out that the health of its 68-year-old leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri is poor.

Officials in the US confirmed this week that Hamza bin Laden, a son of Osama bin Laden, the founder of the organisation, was killed within the last two years. Hamza, 30, was being groomed as a possible leader of al-Qaida.

A major part of the report is devoted to west Africa, which has seen a sharp rise in violence motivated by Islamic militants.

Intelligence services appear divided over whether the newly established Isis affiliate in central Africa, based in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo posed a genuine threat or had any substantial links to the main group.

Some central African states expressed concerns that the group might evolve, attract returning and relocating foreign terrorist fighters and establish links with other Isis affiliates operating in Africa. But other services said the claims were “opportunistic”.

A deaf civilian police worker who had recently converted to Islam was shot dead in Paris today after murdering four colleagues with a ceramic knife following a 'dispute over working with female colleagues'.

Michael Harpon, 45, went on the rampage in the French capital's historic Police Prefecture, next door to Notre Dame Cathedral.

Investigators have not ruled out a possible terrorist motivation for the Thursday afternoon attack, which left a woman and three men dead.

All were repeatedly stabbed by Harpon, who had worked in the IT department at the Prefecture since 2003, in the worst loss of French police lives in a single day since World War II.

Harpon had recently been reprimanded by his female boss over his refusal to interact with women, Actu17 reported.

Within hours of the attack, anti-terrorist officers had raided Harpon's flat in an apartment block at Gonesse, a suburb some 12 miles from the scene of the attack.

His wife, Iham, was arrested, as an investigating source said that the nature of Harpon's attack corresponded with similar ones carried out by terrorists affiliated to Islamic State and Al-Qaeda.

A MUSLIM father yesterday admitted murdering his 16-year-old daughter for the “dishonour” she brought on the family by sleeping with her boyfriend.

Jesus said it's ok to eat pork and non kosha/halal meat.

Islam basically goes back to old testament rules.

Alcohol is medically proven to be one of two things we ingest that increases life expectancy. The other is coffee. There's also no evidence for pork being a more dangerous meat to consume than say, fowl. Islam needs to get out of the food consumption and bathroom etiquette business.

OK thx for sharing. It is true about pork and certain other meats being forbidden in the Bible, but a lot of the modern Christians tend to disregard the food rules from the Old Testament.
