Depends.
1. Sometimes we make our own troubles by the poor choices we make.
2. It doesn't have to stay that bad. Again....choice.
3. Sometimes we have trials to see if we'll stay faithful.
4. Sometimes we have trials because that's the only way God can get our attention and help us realize something in your life needs changing. It's simply not working.
5. Not necessarily a [u]test[/u] for the next life, but to [u]prepare[/u] us for the next life. If we can't get along here, how are we going to get along in heaven?
6. Problems teach us patience and perseverance.
7. Problems (hopefully) help us learn and [u]grow.[/u] And grow UP ... take responsibility for our life.
However, make no mistake. One can [b]never[/b] get to heaven by good deeds. You cannot [u]earn[/u] your way to heaven, in any way, shape, or form. God says so in His Word. Only by having your sins forgiven by Jesus. Jesus doesn't want a half-hearted commitment. Faith, repentance,
and total commitment are the keys to heaven.

@riseofthemachine While I don't think anyone can know the details one can at least emulate Christ as best they can and show love to everyone including their enemies. I think if you can do that then the details of the test won't matter. You'll have shown yourself to be a good person and like Christ.

@riseofthemachine Jesus is a special example. Lol But it's the journey to be like him that matters most. Even if we can't always be like him we can at least try and God will take that into account even if we fall short. As Jesus was meant to be an example of perfection and humans aren't perfect. But like I said God knows that and won't fault you. And you are welcome. I hope you do well on your journey and have peace馃

Not really. The point is if we are children of God we become like HIM which includes eternal. Now let us think about eternal beings. What would they do to occupy their time? How about they go through an infinite series of experiences. One such experience is human life on earth.
