In my opinion, the Bible is a very important book. It's a cornerstone of the spiritual development of mankind (the New Testament, and the Quran may be considered to be appendices to the Old Testament).

The Bible is not a history book, though. And it isn't a science book either. The concept of history and science were not established in the culture where the book was written.

@helenS I think it's arguably more a case of fertile ground consisting of widespread ignorance. Christianity flourishes in the absence of rational knowledge.

@Success No no - it's something else.

Christianity is about salvation, redemption, guilt, forgiveness, (...).

Science is about angular momentum conservation, spin matrices, planetary orbits (cf. my profile picture 😁).

These things are not mutually exclusive.

To use a picture, people have two eyes. Using only one, be it the religious one or the scientific one, will render you half-blind.

The Bible is a reliable reference for places and mundane events of that region and era. Beyond that, no. Beware disinformation.

I don't think it needs to be reliable if it's teachings mean something to you

@SW-User Maybe, I am very logical though however as my college professor shared with me that only I and one other person in her 3 logic classes over 500 student scored the highest and have natural logical brains. I just can't believe in nonsense, and Jehovah is real not made up to make me feel good. So many in the world want to feel good and it actually harms them, (like my chocolate cake ha ha)
