If there is one God and one religion, what happens to the rest of the people who do not belong to that religion? Do they go to hell? [Spirituality & Religion]

Whwt if they are raised in an area which did not expose them to the “one true religion”? For example, there are 1.2 billion Catholics. What happens to the 5.6 billion (give and take on numbers) people who are not Catholic? What happened to the people who died prior to the organized religion or the concept of God Default to eternal damnation?

There is a difference between God and Religion. No worries I been to that same route years ago.
It has never been proven that there is a creator or not. There are many theories, books, and authors, choose whatever makes you feel comfortable with how you live your life.

There is likely something higher than us, I doubt anyone has pinpointed what it is exactly. So, the only honest answer I can give is, I don’t know.

I was taught something by my grandmother. She said God will take everything into consideration and judge a man's heart. So if they never knew God it's not their fault you know? It's only when you learn about God and reject him over and over. He gives a person every chance though. He's fair.

Gee, you don't ask any easy questions do you?

In Purgatory, there is a nice part of it designated for Virtuous Pagans, i.e., good people born before Christ or who were never exposed to Christianity.

And these types of questions are why religion is slowly fading from the human psyche. Maybe we are outgrowing the need for religion in some small way. I hope so anyway.

Humans of one sort or another have been around for a million years. Even the neanderthals buried their dead with flowers. What's to say that theirs was not the true religion. Perhaps dolphins have the true religion! They've been around much longer than us and they speak to each other. Our holy books, Creed's, songs, and prayers are translations of older things with redactions, additions, subtractions, and outright fiction. So what do we know? We are just condensed energy in an infinite void. So what's to say we are not just God's dream.

These types of questions are part of why I don't believe in a god anymore.

I'd suggest it's one God and many denominations, and this is accepted by most churches. Since you chose catholicism - i'm not a catholic but I know what they believe on this - catholic teaching does recognise that people prior to catholicism and outside catholicism may find God. Most other christian denominations teach the same.

So... there's your answer.
suchaslife · F
@Abstraction 👏 Thank you

It’s such a controversial subject. I asked the same question once and the conclusion was that most people simply don’t recognize their religion as a religion. “Everyone who accepts Jesus will be fine” was the most popular answer
Pfuzylogic · M
The Bible starts in Genesis with Adam and Eve. The Catholics started with Peter but there are other denominations that believe in a living Messiah.

I imagine God has contingencies in place for such eventualities
