We are about to make "First Contact"? [Spirituality & Religion]

Astronomers detect eight new potential Alien Signals.
In 2007, astronomers discovered a high-energy radio signal emanating from far beyond our galaxy. And because it turned up for no obvious reason, some academics began speculating that the signal could’ve been a message from an alien civilization.
Scientists have detected dozens of fast radio bursts, FRB's since then, but only twice did they notice multiple signals coming from a single source.
Now, however, astronomers have reported finding eight new repeating FRB's — a discovery that could help us understand the strange phenomenon.
Get ready because here they come

Don't hold your breath. The universe is likely far too vast for two developed civilizations to find each other by sheer chance in less than a thousand years.

There is so much money invested in these things that the scientists have got to come up with something no matter how far fetched 😄

@Speedyman And how many "no evidence whatsoevers" are there in a "so minute as to be probably negligible"
Speedyman · 70-79, M
We have no evidence whatsoever for life on other planets . Anything is just sheer speculation@whowasthatmaskedman

@Speedyman I refrain from further comment, to honour the wishes of the post author.

It would be nice if those who comment here, have their say and if necessary, agree to disagree?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Gusman I agree. 😉

@whowasthatmaskedman Enough said on this post?

Not to rain on your parade, but a radio signal that originates from 1,000 light years away, even assuming it is from an intelligent source, is 1,000 years old.
SW-User
@Sicariumif it’s a radio signal it’s probably from millions of years ago?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@SW-User If it's a million light years away, yeah. If it was from 1,000 light years away and 1 million years old, it would've passed us 999,000 years ago. Everything on the electromagnetic spectrum travels at the speed of light. However far it is in light years is how old it is.
SW-User
@Sicarium Makes sense.
The signals are so far away the only way they could've been generated is by a stellar event. No modulation is another problem. If this was with 50 light years I'd be less skeptical.

@jetpack Don't be caught unaware.
They are coming'

That may not be what it is but I hope so. I'd welcome them.

@SW-User Spirit of Adventure is what drives me🙂
SW-User
@Gusman That is too much adventure for me. The place is mad enough without aliens.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@SW-User Maybe they coming to gather specimens.
I'll volunteer to go😁
