Scientists have found stars that are older than the age of the Universe [Spirituality & Religion]

How do you explain that?
daisymay · 51-55, T
The good thing about science is that it is always looking for new information to test against existing theories and will update findings if necessary.

Contrast that with religion.

Now, on to the good part, do you have links to the scientific fact(s) that some stars are somehow older than the universe?

There you are
daisymay · 51-55, T
@dearyme Buried deep in there are a couple of quotes:
“Astronomers now know it contains very little iron — which means it must have been formed before this element became common in the universe.

“And that implies HD 140283 must be almost as old as the universe itself.”
And then the article goes further on to describe how scientists calculated the age of the universe based on observable expansion and how improved measurements may show the original estimated age to be incorrect.

I'm not ready to claim science is false based on this.

@Jm31xxx So, even in your cite, they state that the measured age of the star is imprecise. Again, not ready to chuck science yet.

Well either the age of the universe is wrong or the age of the star is wrong.

There has always been "something" here and there always will be.

Miscalculation of the age of the Universe, duh.
Not everything can be explained.

Stars are planets and some planets are older than earth. I learned that as a kid.

Not possible..

The only explanation is the age of the universe is not what they thought

“...with a residual uncertainty that makes the star's age compatible with the age of the universe," study lead author Howard Bond, of Pennsylvania State University and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, said in a statement.

Science is not an absolute. It is an ongoing learning process. Answering one question will only lead to more questions.
