What will happen if I stop praying? [Spirituality & Religion]

rckt148 · 61-69, M
Prayer is actually only effective to repent and ask Christ into your heart if you have no faith in the prayer ,there is a couple of requirements that actually go with praying ,unless its the basic pray Christ taught us how to pray in the gospels
1)you have to forgive others so that your forgiven ,can't call on God for requests and still not be forgiven ,
You need to have faith that what you are praying about is in the will of God ,,you can't for instance pray that another person comes back to you ,
they have free will too ,so God is not going to force them to do something just because your praying they will ,
We pray for others ,that we might also be healed ,,so only praying selfish prayers may not be answered ,,
He says we don't have because we don't ask ,but He is speaking to believers ,not just someone who only prayers or knows Him when they want something ,
Its better to pray 2 or more ,and be in agreement about the prayer .

So thats just a few basic things ,He also mentions keeping His commandments for an effective prayer too
but if you need to ask what will happen if you stop
more then likely Nothing

@Carazaa you kind of left part of it out

John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

you cant take one verse and build a doctrine around it
Line upon line ,precept upon precept ,here a little there a little
Rightly dividing the Word of Truth ,,
A Babe can pray the prayer of faith
"Father forgive me I have sinned ,

But when Christ demonstrated how to pray ,how did He pray ?

There is a lot in that prayer ,its an example
But is that how a mature in Christ ,spirit filled Christian prays ?
I seem to recall the deep calling to the deep ,in tongues you don't even understand but the Holy Spirit in you and God the Father do ,,
some say thats tongues ,,that is another one misunderstood
Someone who is not saved is praying to the wind ,,He is only obligated to keep promises to those who love him and follow His precepts
which have to be translated with other precepts ,,a spiritual mind would get that ,and their prayers answered ,,
the unskilled will try to school the messengers of God
and try to teach ,when they should be silent ,they have become stumbling blocks .leading according to doctrines of men ,they have become stumbling blocks ,who lead the sheep to stray ,,

This is Christ explaining who are His ,argue with Him

John 14:15-31 King James Version (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine,
but the Father's which sent me.

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Come time to stand in the last days

I wanted this to be clear so I used the Amplified

Revelation 14:Revelation 14:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 Here is [encouragement for] the steadfast endurance of the saints (God’s people),
those who habitually keep God’s commandments and their faith in Jesus.
So some said Blessed in the next one does not mean saved ,,
well here salvation is called patience ,,the next one its called blessed

Revelation 22:14 [e]Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) are those who wash their robes [in the blood of Christ by believing and trusting in Him—the righteous who do His commandments], so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.

Revelation 20:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
6 [a]Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) and holy is the person who takes part in the first resurrection; over these the second death [which is eternal separation from God, the lake of fire] has no power or authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and they will reign with Him a thousand years.

Blessed in all these text means saved ,,,and since we need to rightly divide it ,,we need the same thing in the Old

13 When all has been heard, the end of the matter is:
fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments
, for this applies to every person. 14 For God will bring every act to judgment, every hidden and secret thing, whether it is good or evil.

1 John 3:22 King James Version (KJV)
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

We can't pick which parts of this we want to follow
there is only one way ,,but satan is teaching there is another
picking and choosing how we serve God /Christ is why the Church has not real power ,and out land has not been healed ..
We wont repent and do it His way

@MasterLee its all good ,

@rckt148 I said this also in my first response to this post. I have responded 2 times to this post. If you read my response 8 hrs ago I summarized what you said here. God will hear our prayers if we are born again, and he will answer if we are keeping his commandments, and have faith. This is why God answers my prayers. I am born again and I put him first above everything else, and I have faith that He will give me all the desires in my heart. He is good.
I don't know if you had heard of this or not, but it is true. It is said that one week without prayer, makes one weak. You will grow weaker, spiritually. You can actually talk with God during the day no matter what you were doing, or the evening. That is communication with God, as well.

That depends on the person. I am someone that prays every day. I am a Christian, but not perfect will never claim to be, but for me personally, I wouldn't feel like myself if I stopped praying. I have a personal walk with God Keep in mind that prayer is more than what most people make it out to be. It's not about asking for what you want and then getting it. That's not how it works or how it's supposed to. I don't think anything will happen to people if you stop praying. Praying is about having faith. Some people need to pray to have faith and that's okay.

@deadgerbil I'm pretty sure about this one.

Same thing if you keep doing it

There are verses in the Bible that indicate that If we aren't born again, have faith, or if we are sinning God doesn't hear our prayers. Repent and follow Jesus then God will hear you. We get according to our faith Jesus says. Also if you have OCD because of anxiety then meds can help a lot like Zoloft, Prozac, or paxil. What do you need? I can pray for you too? You can message me if you want. I have a prayer journal I will put your prayer in there.

You might start reasoning better.

You will have more time to do enjoyable things.

Praying comes naturally....if you have a habit of praying, you'll do it unknowingly ten times a day. It doesn't always mean sitting in one place and chanting beads.

You may lose an inner peace. I did.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TheFragile It wasn't until I recanted my faith and became an Atheist that I found inner peace.
