Do you believe in the power of prayer? [Spirituality & Religion]

If so, how do you know it was your god and not your own doing?
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M Best Comment
Because God healed me, I couldn't possibly heal myself!!
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@TheWildEcho could you give details? It would help😕
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@iamnikki yes, a few years ago I had pain in both hips, could only walk a few hundred yards without struggling. Then one evening at the small group in my church there were only three of us, myself and two good friends and one friend asked if I needed prayer for anything I told Him about my problem and we all prayed. Just simple prayer to God , nothing else, and I've never felt any pain there since! PRAISE GOD!!
Now i can play football and climb mountains no problem
It was totally God who healed me, it wasn't myself and it wasn't a placebo because I wasn't expecting anything, l know that shows a lack of faith on my part but God is good, I've been a Christian since my teens and it's the best life you could experience!

Hope that helps

@TheWildEcho thanks for best answer 🤠

I don’t know what I believe, but deep down it’s difficult for me to believe that praying will suddenly just fix all my problems. People always say you have to pray and put forth the effort, but what if it’s just you putting forth the effort that gets things done or handle certain situations. What if the praying had nothing to do with it ?

@Stark Because God often helps people especially when they pray or when other people pray for them
@purplepen I don’t see any proof of that 🤷🏽‍♀️ So I’ll stick with my original statement.

@Stark ok

Yes, I do. A few years ago, a former sister-in-law of mine became ill with a very rare form of cancer in her spine. Her chances were not good. She had to live inside a hyperbaric chamber for quite some time, and she was in a great deal of pain. She had young children, and she was very depressed, thinking she would go through all that pain and would still die.

I emailed her all through it, and I researched prayer groups throughout the United States and asked for prayers for her from all of them. At one point I had 20 very large prayer groups praying for her, joining my own prayers. (They have finally stopped sending me requests for more money! LOL!!)

All I am going to say is, she got better. She did not die, and they say that she is now cancer free.

I have heard that if many voices are joined together, God will hear them and answer their prayers, especially for healing. As in any prayer, God's answer can take time to arrive, His answer might be no, and His answer might be the miracle for which you have prayed.

And how do I know that I am not personally responsible for that miracle? I sure do wish I could win a couple of million dollars from publishers clearing house, and I haven't got that little miracle going on...😂
No. I am not religious. I think all religion is mythology. I do not believe in the "power" of anything supernatural whether it be gods, goddesses, devils, angels, spirits, ghosts, poltergeists or anything else mythological.

Believe in the power of yourself to make things happen in your life. Believe in the power of your hard work. Believe in your power to accumulate knowledge and skills. Believe in yourself.

Well I don’t see prayer as a request gimme type thing. Like a loved one I come to them for advice or unload my burdens and to sometimes request help they may say no they may say yes they may show me how to do it. Prayer is time with God. Undivided not rubbing a lamp.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
Yes. Because it makes me feel special that God chose to hear me over the sick, poor, and abused of the world. If I didn't feel like I deserved it, I just would have saved the prayer for something else and done it myself

When surrendering matters to His will and accepting or knowing His way, you have peace to step back and let God step in. That is when prayer and praise are at work.

Yes, I do.

Sometimes the answers to prayers come out of left field, in ways never thought of.

If god knows everything, including everyone’s thoughts..why do people feel the need to pray?

Nor exactly. I believe in the power of God. Human beings have limited power and we can pray but we can't take credit for anything God does, nor can we always know how He is working.
MistressOfEvil · 26-30, F
No. I think it is a persons own doing, wether it be positive thinking, or whatever they might doing to help themselves.
ImKelsey · 26-30, F
In a sense. Optimism opens new opportunities and speeds the healing process. Is there a god? No.
