Even just considering the larger predators and only two each of pray animals, that group of carnivores would have decimated the available herbivore population long before it could produce a viable population (supposing for the moment that 2 individuals is sufficient to repopulate and entire species).

@Quizzical Civilizations, sometimes, replace the earlier ones along time. And inherit, sometimes, part of their cultural stuff. Frequently in a distorted way, adapted to them and their times.
