So if god cares about humanity and our salvation, why do you suppose that he only revealed himself to some ancient middle eastern people? [Spirituality & Religion]

Why wouldn't he reveal himself to the different cultures and populations across the world? After all, this was a time when the world was much larger and the global dissemination of information was not only impractical but downright impossible.

So why don't we see diverse cultures all sharing a fundamental religion that could be recognized as christianity?

If god actually wanted to save all his humans, why do it in such an objectively ineffective way?

And, if God created humans as his children, why would He need to 'Save' them, if he created Everything? (including sin, hate, selfishness , etc. ) :/
@Coralmist I always wondered why he came up with such a bad plan to do so. Doesn't seem omnipotent to me.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@canusernamebemyusername Right. Is that loving, to WANT your own children/creation to be 'bad' and sin, and then say 'I HOPE you accept me Father'/beg for kindness? :(
@Coralmist Sounds more like a power trip.

One of my favorite lines from Jesus Christ Superstar is Judas's song at the end I believe,
If you'd come today
You could have reached the whole nation
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication
@Pikachu It looks like you made a friend!
@Cmstars

did i?
Cmstars · 22-25, F
@Pikachu i think so. :)

Why would cultures share a fundamental religion say if "god" revealed itself to them separately?

Most cultures are theistic. Do you think this hints to a great possibility of their being a god?
@Cmstars
Whats the evolutionary benefit of creating a god?
I'm not sure that there is. I think deity worship is an emergent property of the answer seeking, problem solving brain which IS adaptive.
People like to organize things and label things and KNOW things because it helps us to make sense of our world and feel comfortable moving through it.
Schemas are a very useful tool, evolutionary speaking
Cmstars · 22-25, F
@Pikachu So you believed in a god at one time? Are you agnostic to the idea of a god(s)?
@Cmstars

I don't think i ever really did. At least i can't remember believing in god for longer than i believed in santa claus.

Because He works in mysterious ways.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@IndigoSavage LOL!! What a cop out. 😎
@IndigoSavage

Bit of a non answer though, isn't it?
Riverman · 56-60, M
Where did you get that idea? He reveals himself constantly.
Hdryder555 · 61-69, M
@Riverman hope he don't "reveal himself" downtown he'll get arrested!
Riverman · 56-60, M
You are not really looking. You just want to argue with someone. Have a nice day.
@Riverman

...um yeah...
i do expect you to be able to substantiate your assertions. I thought it was pretty clear that this was meant to be a debate/discussion.
Sorry if you were confused. Have a pleasant afternoon 🙂

the flood is universal though
@revenant

the flood is universal though

It isn't. There are many flood stories occurring in different parts of the world (surprise, turns out humans tend to settle around water) but they do not occur at the same time and so cannot be said to represent the biblical flood
Pherick · 41-45, M
@revenant The universal piece of the flood story is that just when large flood incidents have happened in the distant past, people there assumed the "world" was flooding when in reality, it was just their small piece of the world.
