Who controls the world? [Spirituality & Religion]

I just had a Jehova Witness leaflet. It said Satan/Bal/the Devil/Cunnunis (the God of Fire, passion, anger, lust) whatever you want to call him) controls the world. Not Jehova/El/"God"/(the God of Air or the sky, positive action etc).

This actually makes some sense. I always read their leaflets but this one sort of makes sense.

Which leaves me wondering if as Christianity would have you believe their God created "the devil" and cast him out why does he allow him to control earth? If he's more powerful then why let him, why not just stop him? Why send a religion of followers? Devil worshippers don't knock on my door or Pagans or Buddhists. We don't see Hindus trying to convert people. Only Christians and Muslims and Scientologists seem to do this. Doesn't make sense.
I wish people would actually check out these cults. Jehovah's Witnesses do not even believe there is a soul that survives the death of the body. Yet they go door to door trying to earn their way to heaven, which is an impossibility. I’ve talked at length with them. They don’t even know exactly what they believe. They just follow blindly along. They tried to teach me their doctrine, but when I showed them what God’s Word really said, they were stumped and left. They couldn’t answer my questions because they don’t know the Bible nor could explain why they believe as they do. Especially when I pointed out their errors in interpretation. Once they saw they were teaching false doctrine, they went on their way.

Right now, Satan is the ruler of this world, but not the way you’re thinking of it. God hasn’t given up on this world, but it once was given to Adam to have dominion over, before the fall of man. Then, when Adam and Eve sinned, they forfeited that dominion over to Satan, as he is the ruler of darkness and his evil influence is seen everywhere on the earth. Thus, God is showing us just how evil man’s heart is, as evidence of what people do in this world, and just exactly WHY we need Jesus. One day, I believe very soon, Jesus is coming back to rid the world of evil and it’s influence. It’s crucial that we prepare for that by repenting of our sins. There’s no reincarnation or second chances, after one dies. Besides that, it’s ludicrous to even suggest we have no soul, as we wouldn’t even be alive if that was so. Our body dies....for awhile....but our soul and spirit live on throughout eternity.
You contradict yourself, “yes, I went to Bible study at a Christian Church.“ And no one was preaching to you. It’s called discussion.

@LadyGrace

You mentioned preaching not me.

I posted this post about a short Jehova witness leaflet saying that for once their leaflet might of had a point. It was meant to be more a light hearted post than a deep spiritual discussion.

It is a deep spiritual discussion within Christianity about God being all knowing and therefore knowing who will go to heaven or hell and therefore whether our nature's and actions are predetermined which questions the concept of free will. - That's an interesting spiritual discussion but not one I'm interested in.
Hello???? YOU just mentioned preaching. Goodbye. @KaiserSolze

[c=#7700B2]Norse Mythology is a better take on it all.. being as Christianity seems like it stole parts of it and just couldn't fix all the contradictions they made in doing so..

Odin sent Hel to rule the underworld basically to get rid of her as he believed that Loki's children would start Ragnarok[/c]

@PlumBerries @SatanBurger Now that's interesting! Makes me wonder why people didn't try to make up something more exciting for Christianity.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Redstar Well there's like 9 crucified saviors in other legends way before Christianity that all have similar stories so I think they just rehashed it.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]poorly at that[/c]

Many people use religion as a crutch. Don't fall into their trap.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Tarantulella I call it the blame game. People want to use demons as an excuse because the truth is much scarier in the fact that in all 2000 years of human "written" history, only 268 of those years was spent on peace (not consecutively.)

I do remember where I learned that if you need sources however this would suggest that we've spent the better part of our lives murdering each other.

Humans are far scarier than any demon.
Use religion as a crutch? Some may use God as a crutch, but that points to someone who's trying to be "religious". They don't know the difference between religion and relationship. If one is using faith to run away from something, justify something, or to take shortcut to peaceful living, then yes, for him or her, faith is a crutch. For others, it is the heartfelt desire to have a relationship with God.

Look up The Epicurus paradox.

@canusernamebemyusername Basically put:

Is God willing to prevent evil but not able ?
Then he is not omnipotent !
Is he able, but not willing ?
Then he is malevolent !
Is he both able and willing ?
Then whence cometh evil ?
Is he neither able nor willing
Then why call him God ?

Demons don't control anything, bad people are real and they need to stop playing the blame game. Historically that excuse was just used to genocide people like Pagans so the church could have plausible deniability when they wanted to expand control over land. However all religions have done this to each other at some point.

Look up crucified saviors other than Jesus and you'll find similarities between all religions.

No one is correct or wrong.
KaiserSolze · 46-50, F
@SatanBurger I've read many many different religions. The Scientologists will be the religious terrorists in about 100 years time lol and Islam will be a peaceful established religion.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@KaiserSolze That's a high possibility because that is how it really goes historically. It's weird lol. During modern day Africa they still have left over witch hunts from Christianity and the Middle East, at least the way the extremists ran it is a lot like the biblical period.

In years time I'm sure it will be another.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
The Zorastrians started the idea of good vs. evil. They pushed the ideas of angels and demons. It's about 3500 years old and is dying out. I actually think it's time to create a new philosophy. A modern one based on love and the fact that everything in the universe is just the same concentrated energy.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
As I understand it that sect is told that only 144 thousand people will be let into heaven.

That seems a little strange as far as compared to the other mainstream Christian faiths.
@SteelHands According to them the 144,000 are already gather and Jesus took over heaven in 1914. Many Christians consider them a cult.
SteelHands · 61-69, M
@canusernamebemyusername It doesn't seem possible to give historical reports about someplace that nobody living had ever actually seen. Lol

God created everything and even Lucifer who was an Angel of Light at one time.
We and the Angels have free will.
It tends to mess up the best plans
revenant · F
Lucifer is the light bearer . Makes you think
xSharp · 31-35, M
@revenant the morning star, which jesus also claims to be in revelation, also make you think.
revenant · F
@xSharp very true !
Lucifer the light bearer? Since when? He is describes as an angel of darkness and great deceiver. That’s more obvious all the time. There is no light in Him at all. @revenant

Some religions have a mission to proselytise and other don't.
