Atheists, if a hypnotist used their powers to make you believe in God, would you consider it a violation and be angry? [Spirituality & Religion]

Even if it meant you were more happy, less sullen, less neurotic and cynical and just generally more agreeable?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
Why would it make me happier?
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@BlueMetalChick do they? Islam explicitly prohibits alcohol sure, but I'm unaware of any other such restrictions for other drugs and other religions
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@BlueMetalChick Very tempting, though. I'm a selfish hedonistic drug user because God told me to be. Now, why didn't I think of that in the 60s/70s lol.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Jm31xxx Having been born in a Muslim country I can assure you that most factions of Islam prohibit drug use. Sufism is the exception.

Although most people don't actually bother to follow most of what's in the Quran so they still get high.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Well it couldn't happen considering a person wouldn't be "more happy, less sullen, less neurotic and cynically and just generally more agreeable" by believing in god so this is pretty irrelevant.

@Jm31xxx Which God, there's 100s
Sharon · F
@Harriet03 What happened? There were 1000's at the last count.

@Sharon Napoleon introduced metric religions that greatly simplified conversions

Hypnotism & Religion are basically the same. It's Brainwashing, ones tax deductible the other isn't!

@Greenbare it's not really coercion more like extremely sophisticated persuasion
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@Jm31xxx Unless the subject asked for that to happen, it would be ethically, morally and hopefully, legally wrong.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
Likewise, if a hypnotist used their powers to make you stop believing in your god, would you consider it a violation and be angry?

Even if it meant you were more happy, less sullen, less neurotic and cynical and just generally more agreeable?

Unlikely hypnotism would work, you have to be gullible and easily persuaded with little rational critical free thought going on in that little monkey brain! As for the other stuff, you're just making shit up! Lol
midnightoker · 61-69, M
I've just spent a whole year of my life, successfully hypnotising myself to be a chicken (typed this with my beak)
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@midnightoker And you get free eggs. Bonus!

@Jm31xxx The cranky one in the Old Testament, or the cuddly one in the New?
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@walabby the sanitized more PR freindly NT version
walabby · 61-69, M
@Jm31xxx Yeah, the story got better with each telling...
Sycorax · F
I'd prefer not to be brainwashed. I'll take the red pill, any day.
User41 · 36-40, M
Define “happy”
User41 · 36-40, M
Well now, idk what or who your talking about.

So I guess you win? 🤷🏻‍♂️
walabby · 61-69, M
@User41 I meant jm31xx.... the guy who asked the question that you replied to..

Nobody wins... :(
User41 · 36-40, M
Lol

Nothing wrong with that 🤷🏻‍♂️
xSharp · 31-35, M
this is not how hypnotism works

You have to be open to it.

No, because you'd have agreed to being hypnotized. 🤔
