Which model is better supported by the evidence: common ancestry or common design? Why? [Spirituality & Religion]

Common ancestry is actually a principle of linguistics. Everyone associates it with evolution, but it's a key part of historical linguistics and proto-language reconstruction. Spanish and Italian are similar, not because one came from the other or were designed by anyone to be similar, but because they both have a common ancestor: Latin.

Anyway, this is tangentially related, but it relates to my field, so I thought I'd bring it up.

lol very tangentially. But thanks for sharing.
Personally i think that common descent offers a better account of the evidence.
I think that many of the arguments for a common designer rely on imposing on god the same limitations by which human designers are constrained.
