No matter how many steps you take away from God, it still only takes one to get back. [Spirituality & Religion]

Have you slipped away from God? No matter what you’ve done, Jesus loves you. That is, He doesn’t base His love for you, on your performance. He never turns anyone away, who wants to ask for forgiveness and be reunited with Him. No matter how far you’ve roamed, Jesus will always welcome you back with open arms. While you are the one who moved away from God, God remains who He is, and where He is.

In Luke 15, we find the story of the prodigal son. This was not a servant or someone unknown to the father. This was a son. The SON left his FATHER. But when he remembered from where he was fallen, he repented and came to his father, now humbled. His father accepted him back as one who was dead and now alive.

This story told by Jesus does not begin with the son already out in the world. It begins with him being in his father’s household. This is one way we can know that Jesus is not speaking of someone who never knew their father.

The wonderful thing about it, is that the son who had left his father came to his senses later on. His hard heart was turned back to his father and he repented. His father did not reject him when he returned, but instead took him back as his son. It was as though he had never left.

So true. I've been thinking a lot about why Christians and churches often struggle to do the same. We're often so focused on people's performance, rather than showing the love of the Father toward them. The thing is, the son may never have returned if he didn't feel safe to do so. We need to be a safe haven for others, just like Jesus was.
That is a beautiful message. I agree wholeheartedly. Very insightful. Thank you for sharing that. @SW-User
