If you don't believe in the God of the Bible, what would it take for you to believe? [Spirituality & Religion]

If he speaks to me and shows me he's real through a specific act, magic/miracle.

None of this "god works in mysterious ways" bullshit. The bible is too obviously human to be convincing of anything and it offers no evidence of its validity over any other creation myth or religion.

So if god wants me to come to him then he'll show me he's real. He's god, if he wants to then he can.

@Pikachu You sound like a man born blind refuting the existence of rainbows.
@hippyjoe1955

Why? How do you feel that is an apt analogy?
I'm just not convinced by ambiguity.
As you're so fond of announcing, any of the evidence you might supply is nothing more than your interpretation.

The OP asked me what would convince me. What would convince me is direct interaction with god.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu I have seen rainbows. You deny their existence.
@hippyjoe1955

No i don't I've rainbows too.
I'm questioning the validity of your analogy, joe. It is insufficient to repeat your analogy as if this validates it.

So again, can you explain why you feel this is an apt analogy? Or did you speak before you thought?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Rainbows are a metaphor for miracles. I have seen them and you deny them. Why? Because you are blind to them.
@hippyjoe1955

Maybe you've seen them. I never have.
That's not the same as denying them. Understand, joe. A personal experience which you consider miraculous may only seem that way to you. It may not have the same meaning to anyone else.

So which miracles am i denying and why should i consider them to be miracles?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu So what was the point of your post then? I have seen what you have not and you deny what I have seen. Strange.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 I could give you a scientific explanation for rainbows right now. It doesn't require a wizard in the sky.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 You missed the point again. I expect nothing less from atheists like you.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 I expect nothing less from dumbass creationists than ascribing some religious meaning to a natural every day thing.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 You missed again. Funny that. Your blind hatred is making you even more blind. Kinda funny and kinda sad at the same time.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Who has blind hatred here? I have friends who are Christian, friends who are Jewish and friends who are Muslim. I didn't say anything bad about religious people, you're the one shitting on all Atheist all day on the forum.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 And who is it that is doing the hatred on this post. YOU! Run along you have shown your bigotry and everyone knows what you fail to know. Have a nice non existence.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Bigotry? Where? Who was a bigoted against? Where did I show hatred? Cite an example.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 You are a bigot. You attack Christians and Christianity. That is pretty obvious. You don't know what you don't know so you are attacking blindly. Kinda funny kinda sad.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Where did I attack all Christians? Creationists are not the same as Christians.

Actually show citations, otherwise you're just making shit up.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 Now there you go denying what you wrote. Funny how bigots always deny they said what they said when it is pointed out to them that they are bigots for saying or writing thus.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Show where I said anything against all Christians.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89 Go back and read your own posts. Bigot.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Show proof.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@basilfawlty89
I expect nothing less from dumbass creationists than ascribing some religious meaning to a natural every day thing
.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@basilfawlty89 He can't show proof because there isn't any. He just keeps babbling vainly hoping someone will believe him. He isn't worth the effort.
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Have you read the Bible and researched any of the connections between the hundreds of prophecies and their fulfilment in history?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@ms20182878 I have and there aren't any. The prophecies are couched in metaphor and so vague just about anything can be made to fit. As a fall back,if nothing fits it's said that it's "yet to be fulfilled".

I prophesy you will win the UK National Lottery. If you ever do, it will prove I have divine powers. Until then, it remains "yet to be fulfilled".
ms20182878 · 61-69, M
@Pikachu And your answer of a direct interaction, is a good answer. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that such an interaction rarely occurs with non-believers.
