Do you believe in Soul? [Spirituality & Religion]

You mean do we have a soul? Absolutely we do. We are immortal, living souls. There are two realities in the universe: the unseen, immaterial, spiritual realm and the visible, physical, material world. The soul does exist and we, in fact, are living souls. We live, even when our bodies die.

The soul animates the body. While the soul can live without the body, the body cannot live without the soul. When a soul returns to a lifeless body, the body is said to “rise from the dead” or to be “revived”. We are living souls, and our souls are “seen” in this physical world, as they are united with, and animating, our physical bodies. (Luke 16-19-31, 1 Kings 17:19-23)

Souls are active. Even after our bodies die, as living souls, we are not passively waiting for our resurrection bodies. In the time between our physical death and our resurrection at the Second Coming of Christ, we will not be in a state of dormancy. We will be active and available to God. (Ecclesiastes 12:5-7, Matthew 17:1-3)
Actually, “soul" occurs 459 times in 432 verses in the Bible. Just two examples are:

But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Deuteronomy 4:29

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16:26
People don’t live, then just fizzle out when they die. We were born with a purpose.

@LadyGrace How to find the purpose then ? curious!
I’ll share this here, then post it, as well.

My opinion is that it’s five-fold.

1. We were originally created to glorify God. That doesn’t mean God has a huge ego. He is without the sin of pride. It means that as His created beings, the angels and people were meant to bring glory to their Creator in all they do and say, as we were made in His image. Therefore, we represent Him in all we say and do. We would not want to bring Him shame. It also means He is so pure, good, and wonderful, He deserves our praise.

2. Each of us were given talents, called “gifts”. We are not waste them, as they were given for the purpose of sharing, and not to waste. Whatever you do for the Lord, and do with your talents, do it with all your might, so you glorify God.

3. We are more spiritual beings, than anything. This life is in preparation for our afterlife. [c=#BF0000]Ecclesiastes 12:7 - And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.[/c] Life is our gift from God. What we do with it, is our gift back to Him. We have yet to learn how to love one another. What seems like such a simple thing, has yet to be accomplished in so many.

4. We’re to do our very best with the life that was given us, not waste it. It is sacred because it houses a soul that lives on, and a Holy Spirit, when one accepts Jesus as their personal Savior. When one is saved their body becomes a Temple of the Lord.

Through scripture, we know that God values our bodies. Our bodies are said to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to take care of and honor God's temple. God's words lead us to use our bodies and the gifts He has given us, to achieve the will of God.

[c=#BF0000] 1 Corinthians 6:19 - 20 -
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.[/c]

5. Jesus said the most important thing in life, is love. When all is said and done, and this Earth is no more, love will be the only thing left standing. That’s why it’s important that we learn from it. Life is a cycle of living, doing our best in appreciation of this gift of life, not wasting it...it is precious, as is our souls, and learning. It is about self-LESSness. Giving, helping, being useful, sharing, and most of all, loving. If we can’t learn to love each other here, how will we ever get along in heaven?

I believe beyond the physical is a higher plane of existence where beings of spirit roam, we have a connection to an energy that vibrates throughout eternity. While we live, our spark is boosted and when we die and it dissipates.

Yes and nope. I identify as soul, I can say, more than a body but I don't believe in a ghostly soul or something. Soul is just a chemical thing generated by our brain or blahblah, to me.

Soul is a pagan concept better likened to persona than spirit- so yes I do.
Nope.
Never seen a reason to believe such a thing exists.
By what signs do we identify the presence of a soul? Personality? Morality? Generosity?
Anything you care to name is a product of the brain and may be altered with a change to the physical brain.
So what reason is there to suppose that such a thing as soul exists?

Absolutely.
