Do you think it should be illegal for minors to be taken to church? [Spirituality & Religion]

Brainwashing is bad.
No. I think it is good. Good parenting is hope for the future. Good parents raise their children to be obedient and faithful to the one true God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. The more parents who raise their children properly, the better off the world will be when those children become adults.

@puck61 whats your proof of any of this?
@Dolimyte You'll get your proof! I guarantee! If you can't see that the heavens and earth declare the glory of God, then you will have to wait for your proof.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@puck61 why do I need to wait?
indyjoe · 56-60, M
I agree about the brainwashing...but no it should not be made illegal. This country was founded on freedom and one of those freedoms was to be able to believe and worship as one chooses without fear of persecution. I believe in separation of church and state for that reason. Think about it...if they make taking kids to church illegal (assuming we're taking about Christianity), then they'd have to make it illegal for parents of any religion or spiritual belief to expose their kids to it too. And then where does it stop? That would open a door for just having a spiritual or religious belief of any kind illegal. Religion would only be the tip of the iceberg...all of our freedoms would be in serious jeopardy. Is that what you'd want?
No. Jesus taught just the contrary. He said, not to keep little children away from Him.
We all have ways we are raised, some ways we wouldn't believe or practice when we have children ourselves. I was raised in a non religious home, and I wish I wasn't. Just for a greater understanding. More knowledge won't kill the kids, it's what they decide to do and how to go about that knowledge later in life. 🤷🏻‍♀️
@Fernie close minded I see. A very ignorant answer.
Fernie · F
@StayGold No...just the opposite is true...the least open minded judgmental hypocrites on the planet are the very religious kiddo. Nothing ignorant about me. Ignorant means uninformed...which clearly you are. I forgive you though because I can tell by your silly, childish profile picture that you are young and inexperienced
@Fernie ignorant: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.

Seeing how you responded tells it all. You can't even give a reply without name calling or in an attempt to put me down. Quite sad actually. You can give an opinion, disagree, and not put someone down. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But what do I know, I'm apparently uneducated, and childish for giving an open minded opinion and loving anime? Makes sense.

If you met true religious people, you'd understand. You don't have to follow religion to understand. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Like I said, I'm not religious, but taking others beliefs, and opinions can help open your mind, and educate you in seeing how others think; even if you disagree.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
No. We are all entitled to follow our own beliefs. I would never tell you what I thought was right or wrong for your family.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
I went to church as a child. I tend to think I turned out pretty good.☺
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Indy74 do you have kids, and if so do you take them to church?
Indy74 · 46-50, F
@Dolimyte I do not have kids, but if I did, and they asked to go to bible school or such I'd take them.
dumpstermeow · 41-45, F
I went to church until I was 8 or so.... it didn't scar me too much. 🤔
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
Don't think it's illegal but do think parents shld educate children in all reglious backgrounds... as well as atheism... when I told my parents I didn't believe in God they immediately thought I was believing in Satan & a goth & loved suicide & death & blood etc... i felt it unfair given I believed in being a gud person... do unto others as they unto to u... treat others fair & they treat u fair... why shld that be u set under faith? I don't think there is a higher power... everyone shld be educated that there are options but also no faith can solely give u a better 'being as a human'
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@BondGirl84 spoken like a true secular humanist. Ramen sister
Carver · 31-35, F
As much as I'm against indoctrination of any kind, no. Freedom of religion, parents doing what they feel is best and all.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Well who is going to teach them about having faith then?
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Keepitsimple fine, don't answer my questions.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
You want to have an argument but I’m not going to argue with you. What use is having no faith? @Dolimyte
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Keepitsimple you expect me to answer your questions now? 😒
NeloAngelo · 26-30, M
i wont take my future kids to church nor will i allow anyone from any clergy in contact with him/her. i don't want some pretentious old guy telling my child he could go to hell for not being part of there faith. no child deserves to suffer fear mongering. and im not even gonna start on the regular stream of child sexual abuse.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
Why is it brainwashing?
daisymay · 51-55, T
@TheWildEcho
Is school brainwashing too?
Why don't you take a poll of conservatives on that? We're talking about churches here and whether it's ethical/moral to force children into a belief system by threatening them with eternal damnation (or other heinous punishments), not schools.
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@daisymay I'm not going to take a poll, the fact is that kids go to church and they will continue to do so. There are about 30 kids at my church and they enjoy their activities and the leaders are very loving caring people. No one's going to make it illegal!
daisymay · 51-55, T
@TheWildEcho I didn't say anyone was going to, did I? Bye now!
unearthed · 36-40, F
Do you think it should be illegal for Islamic parents to take their kids to mosques or is it just church you have an issue with?
daisymay · 51-55, T
@unearthed All religions, dear. Unbunch yon panties. I use "church" as a general term to mean a place where organized religion occurs.

You sound oppressed.
unearthed · 36-40, F
@daisymay It was just an honest question which you answered, no need to be passive aggressive dear.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Illegal? No. Its a parents right to teach their children what the see as the truth, no matter how misguided and obviously wrong that bullshit may be.
Illegal to force them. I wanted to go as a child.
danawilliams2004 · 18-21, F
no. kids need to go to church.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@danawilliams2004 ok, so you can't get that anywhere else?
danawilliams2004 · 18-21, F
@Dolimyte not like church offers.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
lorne13 · 61-69, M
yes, conditioning a young child to believe a religion reduces their ability to learn about the world
Fernie · F
The minute we are born we have others beliefs forced upon us
SwarmSona · F
as much as I want to say yes I'ma have to say no
DonaldTrumpet · 70-79, M

Fernie · F
I think it's child abuse
Hoodski · 36-40, M
Do you think it should be illegal to not take them to the church? Or to mock any lifestyle in front of them?
Like calm on this is ridiculous
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Hoodski Are you accusing me of mocking a lifestyle or are you describing a church?
Hoodski · 36-40, M
Haha I’ve said nothing even close to accusing you or even describing a church. I’m simply making a point that it is ridiculous to even suggest that that be illegal cause of brainwashing. Some many things can be considered “brainwashing” honestly should just say we can’t parent anymore period @daisymay

@Emosaur you mean like Christianity was in the communist eastern Europe ? People imprisoned and tortured just for their faith. The church was forced underground where it grew!
