Why people get upset when their religious beliefs are challenged? [Spirituality & Religion]

When you raise a few generations along the lines of liberal indoctrination, the result is a group thought cult who now are content to exist in "safe"spaces. These scourges of humanity have never been taught how to use logic, nor do they have a moral compass. We have walking zombies among us in a state of confusion/delusion who do not wish to know facts and are comfortable existing in a world of confirmation bias. Using their brains is much too tough for the snowflake generation, they use Google, you get the point?
TheWolfEmperor · 41-45, M
@therighttothink50 No. I didn't get the point because you didn't make one.

Aww..not only was I blocked, but he sent me a message to tell me I was blocked. That's so precious.
There's a huge difference between opening up a discussion and flat out insulting someone's intelligence and declaring yourself the All knowing and righteous Oricle
Trevo · 26-30, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I agree with what you just said but this comment tho

Lolz.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Hey! There's only room for one Oracle here!
I get ticked cause the only intention ... is to irritate me ... not to share ... not to benefit ... just to irritate.

@questionWeaver absolutely
@questionWeaver Exactly. Key board warrior atheist's posts are generally passive aggressive ego fishing. They simply set up their traps and masturbate like bored monkeys over the potential opportunity to feel intellectually superior and smug, and perhaps engage in some crowd pleasing word play. Volley after volley of tired talking points, and 'gotchas'. Pleasantly though, they have slowed down a bit lately.

Pretty much, I guess, you have to sometimes admit you do not know it all and you adjust your belief system accordingly. I understand the rational reasons for unbelief, but then I see beauty, light, and love all things that are not always rationally explained that is where my faith lies in those things not explainable.
TexChik · F
Why do you believe your beliefs are superior to someone else's ? Petty narcissism ?
I respect you, and agree with you on many things, but, I have to say, that it's been my experience that the 'faithful' are happier and healthier than the faithless. "Cognitive Dissonance" is a very convenient way for atheists to say. "I am your intellectual superior." You're not the type to attack, so I don't include you in my box of atheists.
@LoneKnight I will do that. Yes. I know. I started studying it the day after 9-11, but my mother tried to familiarize me with the basics of all the major religions at an early age. I say, "If you want to know why they hate the west, just open the Quran to any page." That is hyperbole, but nine times out of 10 it works!
LoneKnight · M
@puck61 I am refraining myself self from mentioning about that vile religion because I am becoming obsessed by it nowadays.I won't allow that to happen.
@LoneKnight I dislike it too, but I also consider the fact that if I born into it, I wouldn't have a choice, so I try to consider the feelings of others as much as my bigoted mind will allow,
TheWolfEmperor · 41-45, M
Because people like to think they have it all figured out. They spend their whole lives reading the book, going to the meetings, paying their dues and they don't like being told that it was all for nothing.
berangere · 80-89, F
Well put! Some people are wilfully blind to heir religious ideology and no matter how barbaric this ideology is,they will defend it to the last,they simply will not see what they do not want to see and will churn the same excuses over and over again to justify barbaric acts done in the name of that ideology or they will simply deny that it all and say you are badly informed and should read up on it before speaking! I am engaged in such a debate at the moment.
LoneKnight · M
@berangere Those kind of people will never change .All we can do is point out the fact.For the sake of my sanity I do just that.I don't debate much.
Miram · 31-35, F
Sometimes claims of cognitive dissonance are results of cognitive dissonance too.
@Miram Exactly! It's like everyone gets CD and everyone's a fascist! Everyone's a racist. Everyone's a snowflake now too!

er... The term Cognitive dissonance glosses over what happens. It's right without saying or understanding much.

It basically says that people get upset because people get upset.
