Why did god punish adam and eve for disobeying him and eating the fruit? [Spirituality & Religion]

Before they ate of the tree of knowledge, they had no understanding of good and evil. So how would they know it was bad to eat the fruit?

It's a myth.

If you analyse history people in the antiquity had a somewhat similar anecdote.

Prometheus en Epimetheus for example had a box that contained all the problems in the world.
Prometheus' wife Pandora opened the box ( that's where the saying '' opening the box of Pandora '' comes from ) and all the problems of the world came out of the box.

In all these stories a woman is always portrayed as the sinner.

Religion and mythology were invented to keep the simple poor people quiet. It was the rich who invented these stories to scare the poor into obedience.
In this case to make women obey and behave graciously and to serve the men like they wanted.

Does one need to know good and evil to obey? When one tells their child not to touch a hot stove does that child have to know the mechanics of hot and cold? No. It obeys because its parent told it not to do it. However, if the child disobeys and gets burned is it because the child didn't know physics? Is it the fault of the parent because they told the child the stove was hot? No. The child got burned because it didn't head its parent's warning.

Well, for the punishment aspect to work, it has to be done after the fact, so the infraction has to occur. Probably that's what was intended.

@Xuan12 A parent intends to punish their child - prior to an infraction?
SW-User
@shuhak ..as I said... the art of parenting it is, to finding it what is right for your child and you, at any given point in time ..😌 .
there's no morality there
And that remains the main problem, what this god (and others) preaches is blind obedience, humanity has fortunately come up with more evolved ways of defining good and bad.

BTW, the original myth is not about apples, but a fragant fruit, apricots or oranges, more likely. I guess the idea is that of temptations, sensuality, pleasure.

@MalteseFalconPunch I don't know, but it kinda makes more sense to lure someone with a sweet fragrance. Unless they were thinking of making cider?

Another mystery, like death came into the world because of this unforgivable deed so everything must died.what an evil deity.
Tommmhm · 22-25, M
Because God told them not to.
So this obeying thing was a thing i guess
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Tommmhm

A bit unfair considering god created them without the understanding of good and evil and apparently has no understanding of human nature
