Why are some used pick up trucks and SUVs selling for more than brand new models?

There are obviously huge production delays in the auto industry. A brand new F150 XL costs $28,745. In my area, the cheapest used one is a 2018 model with 17,475 miles for $29,300. But most used F150s cost even more.

Why don’t consumers just wait the six to eight weeks to get a new vehicle at a lower cost with a better warranty?

@ScottR I thought about replacing my Silverado, but when I saw the prices of trucks I decided I really loved my old truck a whole lot.

@exexec Same here. My wife said it’s the perfect time to sell my Nissan Titan. But I really like having a truck.

Just sold our new ford with 13000 miles miles on it for more than we paid for it

You will never get the equipment that you get on a used one for less than 40K is the reason. Go price trucks in the real world with the options people want. You can't even find a stripped down base model, they exist for advertising purposes only.
I just bought a 2020 jimny for 34k

There’s 2014 models going for 20+ on market place.. it boggles the mind..

I think some ppl expect to get their full return and not just a %..
sometimes it's a 'must'; like if your older work truck has blown up.
Thats what i would do.
