I Think This Is Worth Reading...
A friend and i were discussing the Australian government telling muslims that if they didn't want to live by Australian laws but would prefer sharia law then they should move to a country where sharia law is observed. My opinion of this is that i wish the politicians here in America would say the same thing my friends opinion seems a bit different. My friend says maybe us conservatives should move to Australia (sounding better everyday lately) because Australia was where we sent criminals anyway. I started out just to correct that and then went on to point out some problems with allowing muslims to practice sharia law and decided to repost my answer here (with no names) so everyone can jump down my throat LOL
Australia was a British prison colony not American and furthermore the American colonies were originally populated primarily by people who were considered criminals according to the Church of England. They were religious criminals because they didn't like being forced to accept the one church rule in England. They were called the Puritans and they settled primarily in New England and helped found a country based upon christian principles but also allowing people to choose not to follow the christian church if they wished. Now in recent years this part of the constitiution has been corrupted a bit by certain liberal judges who rather than accepting the constitution at face value somehow feel they have the right to give it whatever meaning they wish. So they decided to change one word in the constitution from "of" to "from" thus changing the meaning completely. Now instead of having the right to choose whether to follow christianity, or judaism, islam, or atheism it has been changed to mean that you don't have to be bothered by being polite and respecting someone elses religious choice. I don't believe in any religion but i acknowledge that the vast majority of the laws in this country (and most countries around the world) are based upon religion. Here in America that religion is the Judeo-Christian religion and i am obligated to abide by that law. Just like i would be obligated to abide by sharia law if i went to Iran on a vacation. Simply put if you choose to visit or immigrate to another country you should be willing to accept the laws and customs of that nation and not expect them to conform to your rules language and customs. This of course does not mean they shouldn't be allowed to follow their own customs in the privacy of their own home. Think of it this way...in some Islamic countries it is perfectly acceptable to kill your wife if she cheats on you....if a married couple moves to the U.S. from one of those countries and she cheats on him....should we suspend our laws against murder to honor his religious preference?
here is the story that originally started the discussion which i will admit i checked on snopes and not all of it was said by the Australian leader some was by lower level politicians and a few of the comments were by someone here in America.

It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'�
