I Am American

As an American I am not so stupid as not to know there's a lot wrong with our country but there is also a lot right with it. I wish these guys who whine and criticize and say it's rubbish would go and live elsewhere. I believe North Korea had vacancies!

You ever break a law? What about dislike a law and express it? You ever not liked the president? Or maybe just disagreed with your mayor? If you answered yes to any of these you complained about American ways before. Don't get me wrong I love my country and what we stand for. But part of what we stand for is being individuals with individual thoughts and for freedom. Freedom to say how we feel. I'm not saying your wrong... Just that you need to be a lot more tolerant than this post shows.
hawkiri · 26-30, F
True. So we need to tolerate each other. Or else we are saying we like our freedom but wish our brother or sister american didn't have it due to us disagreeing with them. Now, me personally, I'm glad we don't lose our freedom due to people disagreeing with us as I'm sure I've said things that others don't agree with. But haven't we all?
Repete · 61-69, M
@hawkiri I like the way you think and I agree with what you said but I will add if anyone thinks it's better somewhere else I won't hold you back . Love to have you stay but it's up to you
hawkiri · 26-30, F
@Repete I agree 100%

Exactly. If they are uncomfortable with our laws and government, they should leave. Makes no sense with their complaining and whining yet, they live in the US of A.
hawkiri · 26-30, F
@xRedx ever speed and get a ticket? Forgot to click it and get a ticket? Or did anything else to get a ticket? Did you skip into the court house to pay it? How dare you not skip! Lol. We all complain about something but most of us realize we live in the BEST country thanks to our soliders.
xRedx · M
@hawkiri Actually I haven't. I'm a safe driver that follows the road rules. No speeding and I always wear my seatbelt. But I understand where you're coming from.

Well said Candice. America love it or leave it.
silkandlace · 46-50, M
@TheProphet indeed!

I agree with you dear. This country of ours is like anything else in this world: it has it's problems! But those folks out there who live here but never have anything good to say about the USA really do piss me off. I wish Rosie O'Donnell would live up to her promise and leave since she said she would if Trump got elected! But, alas she's still here!

I have a friend who's travelled to the third world. He says it's bullshit too! @MalteseFalconPunch
hawkiri · 26-30, F
@MalteseFalconPunch never heard that but would have a BIG problem with them as I kindly explained why that is a lie if I did.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
I don't see too many Americans floating in dangerous boats to reach the shores of Florida or Americans flying to Somalia and Yemen to ask for refugee status.
Shade70 · 51-55, M
So you freely admit there are things wrong, but then take issue with those who would criticize that which is wrong?
Candice · 46-50, F
There is a difference between constructively criticising and the guys who say it's all rubbish. @Shade70
Shade70 · 51-55, M
Is there though? Or is it just an arbitrary distinction indicating the level of dissent that we as individuals are personally willing to accept without being displaced from our comfort zones? Who gets to set the bright line for what level of criticism is acceptable? For that matter, who gets to determine what constitutes constructive when it comes to criticism? I suppose one could argue that a requisite for "legitimate" complaint should be the presence of an alternative, but even then a precursor to action has to be an awareness that there is an issue, and to those unaware or unimpacted that attempt to raise awareness may well sound like complaint.
Spartan92 · 61-69, M
@Shade70 Not at all. Legitimate criticism is a good thing. If it were not so, there would be no way to keep this country and it's leaders honest. A free and fair press is essential. And yes, maybe I was being a little sarcastic with the Rosie O'Donnell analogy. But I do believe there is far too much America bashing going on these days and it has a lot to do with the way the last election went. One case in point is CNN. I periodically, though not every day, pull up their web site, among others, to see what's going on in the world. I have yet to see one story or headline dealing with the Trump administration that has had anything positive to say.
