I Love My Dog More Than Most People

My bf bought a bed frame that’s too high for our blind Papillon. He has been sleeping with us since he was a puppy, and now he’s 11 years old, and I have been trying to find a solution for him to get on and off the bed. He won’t use stairs, I’ve tried that. And since we have drawers on each side of the bed frame, my bf doesn’t want to use pillows to break his fall when he tries to jump. He thinks pillows will make it worse. But my dog has already jumped off the bed twice and I haven’t been able to stop him in time. He has hurt himself both times, and I am scared. I can’t risk it again, and whenever he isn’t on the bed he usually cries. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

... yes, there's a "doggie stairs" for beds ... go to Amazon and check out "dog stairs and steps". My gf uses it for her mutt. First time I saw this in her bedroom I laughed and said, "why do you need these tiny stairs to get out of bed?" She laughed back and said that they weren't for her but the dog. "Ahhhhh!!!!"

what about a ramp on the foot of the bed?

Get rid of the boxsprings and just have the mattress, that will drop the height of the bed 6-10 inches. Otherwise, I might suggest a ramp for Papillon 🦋

I was able to teach Chloe to use a step stool. Corgis often have back problems and I didn't want her jumping. It took a couple of hours over several days.
