I Love Anime

馃Do you prefer to watch an anime in English sub or dub? Why?
'Me: I do like sub but i prefer dub as to improve my English,

English sub. I just find the Japanese voice actors sound so much more authentic towards the energy of the anime. I find it more entertaining to listen to but as I don't know Japanese I do need English subs to understand haha!
@MysticMermaid456: Wee the story (not film) was released in 2006, in Japan. MY son had wanted to see this, and would not drive, so I was the transportation. (He paid for the tickets) In anime circles it WAS an event- as it was a long and hard road to get this to US shores. A lot of of delays in getting it here. This would NOT be my daughter's fare. The theater sits in a remote neighborhood of the Pittsburgh-and is a grand one screen theater. The kind no longer seen.

I was surprised. It was a good film.

That sounds so beautiful. Your family are very lucky, haha. I can't imagine how I would feel if I could watch my favourite anime in a cinema here... I don't think I could handle that emotion hahaha. I'm a very sensitive soul.

@MysticMermaid456: I'll agree to that. Those Japanese people are really great at voice acting.

For some reason I just can't stand watching a dubbed anime. It just is so cringy and takes something away from it all in my opinion. If I watch an anime I watch it subbed. I like hearing the actors' voices. And those people who only watch subbed but mute the sound are monsters. Just....why??

@MagentaMentality: 馃Nice to know. Maybe some people can't stand the sound they make. 馃槻I always watch anime using a headphone and in privacy or otherwise, my parents or siblings will come and question me: What kind of cartoon are you watching.

English dub. I want to watch the anime, not spend my time reading what they're saying and hopefully get to catch a glimpse of what's happening. That'd be like reading the dialogue for a movie and occasionally looking at the screen to see what's going on.

@Reboot: 馃檮ya me too, at first i find that difficulty too. 馃槻I somehow manage to train my eyes to go with the flow. 馃榿consistently i always have to move my eyes up and down.
english sub, prefer to hear it as it was intended first
then i sometimes make the second pass in english dub.

@DancingStarGoddess: 馃榿Me too.

Depends on the anime and the VA/VO's used/done. Some series are MEANT TO be heard in Japanese.

Always subtitled.

English sub, like almost every foreign movie. I prefer original sound. I like to hear their pronouns to better understand the situation too (boku, ore..). Even though reading subs in Makoto Shinkai's anime is pretty hard.

[c=#4C0073]Sub. It helps you learn Japanese and I love the deep tone of Japanese male voices [/c]
