New privacy options and content filtering will be released at the same time with Private messages.

Then soon after, during this week, there will be additional options to control who can Inbox you privately.

So no need to worry. You will have lots of ways to control who can contact you or see your content.

Hey! The Edit will only work for fixing typos anyway. We are aware of the risks Edit could cause, and we want to prevent them, while allowing people to make quick fixes for messages.

Adhane. Absolutely agree, positive vibes is good, yes my view is pretty critical but it has to be pointed out. Businesses thrive on customer feedback (good and bad) Andrew is acting on customer demand. Which is clearly PM's.. I ask myself why it is so important where there are more important issues at hand..

In my view social networks should have he tightest security. On a comparative note, relate to that is pretty much dead because they are so stringent with security and that speaks for itself. It's a boring site. SW isn't boring because it's a lot more open to what people can and cannot do. That I do applaud.

Queen. I'm not talking about who will message me or who's not. Even though EP had a lot of posts, it was empty. It was dead. Almost everyone was just private messaging. Posts weren't even fun to read or to comment on. To compare it with Similar Worlds, EP was much easier to quit.
I'd rather have the incomplete Similar Worlds than another EP. If you read the posts now, look at the amount of people interacting with each other and how much fun we're having. There's always, always a reason to come back to Similar Words. Once Private Messaging is up, you will see an obvious change and I'm not looking forward to it. You will probably see 2 people talking to each other and you don't know what they're even talking about because they've been private messaging all day, so it gets difficult to get in with them. This is just one example, you'll understand once it's launched.

EP had millions of members and it felt empty, I don't want to feel the same with Similar Worlds. At least, not yet. Private Messaging is the last thing I'll be looking forward to.

But like I said before, I love what they've been doing. Kudos to all their hard-work.

Hi Andrew. I posted a rather lengthy post with regard to the issues that PM's are going to bring. I guess as a business man Money is at the top of your list and you are thinking with your business head.

I have been targeted, as have other members on EP through PM, you are going to have a battle on your hands depending on how big your team is.

What are you going to put into place when members make multiple accounts to imitate other members?

You can't do anything unless there is serious abuse involved.

SW is not Facebook whereby the Authorities have more powers to deal with abuse. I'm sorry but if it isn't broke don't fix it is a way I have always thought. Your site is doing fine without PM.. It's out in the open.

Here's a scenario:

50 year old male stumbles upon similar worlds, spots that there are minors and vulnerable people. 'Easy targets'

His mindset 'oh let's make a good looking male young profile and groom a child'

I know this because I have contacts in the cyber crime unit and in most cases NOTHING can be done because at a touch of a button they can delete the profile.

So Andrew what is in place when these situations occur. That is just one example of how private messaging will get misused...

You've worked hard and should be proud but I feel very strongly about the safety and have seen first hand what online abuse can do to the vulnerable. And worry not enough is in place to prevent it (some thrive in drama) and what are you going to do in more serious situations whereby a fake account is made to groom kids. But let's not just think about the kids vulnerable adults can be effected aswell..?

I have requested to delete my account because I have witnessed abuse already but then a few good members make me want to stay.. It's already effecting my mental health as I'm stuck between wanting to stay here and not.

I really would like to email yourself and discuss ideas personally with you.

And yet, the administrators are being attacked by numerous of people for NOT having the PM's up and running. Then, Andrew makes a post and people get upset by it. It's what you get for being a decent human being.

adhane05 · I try. I've been treated very badly by some people I've trusted. Maybe SW like EP will do the trick for me. That's why I'm grateful towards the admins..they deserve the credit because no one asked them to do anything, yet they did and they give their free time for us to be able to be 'happy' users.

Mahjack · You don't need to accept all private messaging. You can ignore and delete those that you think aren't suitable for you. Some patience. Eventually the features will take a turn for the better so you'll have more control. It's a slow process that needs a lot of thought process and patience to reach.

Adhane. I think perhaps if Andrew see's this persons posts he may receive the ⚠️ On his profile page at some point.. He is neither respectful of others or genuinely serious, this is the type of behaviour that needs to be stamped out

You weren't attacking? Right... Haha! A request is NOT demanding to make their servers faster and threat to have your friend hack the site. Can you believe it everybody? He was only "requesting."

And they asked if you were 5 foot and 7.7 inches tall.

Mahjack · Yeah I hear your point. EP wasn't easier to quit for me. It took me a lot of time to come to terms with the stuff. Sure, EP was more about private messaging and stuff but where's the harm in that. People need to balance stuff, ultimately you cannot choose for them if they prefer PM's over public dialogue. I personally like both. Sites don't exist without private message functionality these days either so having SW without private messaging would be kind of odd.

Yes. I always find a reason to come back here, I always had a reason to go back to EP too though PM or not functionality. There were days I wouldn't even respond to some PM's just to be able to enjoy more public banter and stuff. It's all about balance.

Queen, we all appreciate their efforts. Love what they've been trying to do so far. I thank them for that. But we're just not ready for what's going to happen. Wish it was the last feature to be released. 😔

Adhane. I don't think they are attacking, just making an opinion and just as any business ALL feedback should be taken into consideration. I am sure that when the developers put this site together they were well aware that not every customer is going to be happy..

show me where the admin are being ATTACKED...seriously, loads of people have concerns with PM. I fully appreciate what admin have done and are doing. It seems that admin are listening so hopefully all will be good.
