Did anyone give a shit?

If anyone's old enough to remember, when the Wedge document came to light, did anyone actually give a shit or have concern or reported on it? And if not, was that due to lack of major journalistic media reporting on it and/or because it had no immediate bearing on people's everyday lives? Or some other reason?

@ScarletWitch: yeah... that's the answer I would expect. Not like it really matters because the plan is pretty successful almost 2 decades later and barely hidden and will probably continue that way.

would it have made a difference?

no.

@sighmeupforthat Well I don't know. I know there are places where news media and news paper are one of the is a sole source of information without any challenge. Or it can be the place of worship where information. Lack of internet can be a contributor. But the internet was just starting to become a thing. And I don't know the skepticism/gullibility of the generations that made up the general population at that time.

Any examples or hypothesis of why not?

No one cares

@katielass: typical 🙄
I don't think anyone believed it, tbh. It seemed unimaginable that even the "fundies" would conspire against scientific advances that could improve even their lives, simply to push a religious agenda.

@bijouxbroussard
I guess I can see how people wouldn't think it was concerning:

A.) "Putting Christian values in government" doesn't sound real bad if you're a moderate Christian who believes it's just being a good person and believing in god. And the fact that this country's mostly Christians already anyway would leave many to believe that an agenda to do so wouldn't really change much of anything.
--But "Christian values" can and have been interpreted (and misinterpreted) in different ways because the Bible is self conflicting. That's why they are so many different denominations. But the people who wrote that document, their "Christian values" are extreme compare globally.

B.) Certain things they claim they were going to do doesn't effect many things like education doesn't a lot of personal effect a lot of people directly and see it as more of a tax.
--Ex. I like on one hand, I could give a shit what the kids who I gotta slow down for on my way to work and pay taxes for are learning. But on the other, if some gullible children become gullible adults and vote for someone that they gullibly think gives a shit about them without any self-insane agenda. Then that affects everyone so their judgment has an affect in the long run.

C.) Religion being endorsed government is unconstitutional, and what they want to be endorsed is ridiculously out of this world
--But we've had laws for 100s of years based solely on biblical morality, many that are just ignored today.

But still even with those reasons to not be concerned, it's kinda that a shame so many didn't not care, knowing...

1.) People willing do or believe (or not do or believe) in the name of religion. (historicly and in modern times)

2.) The 100s of years fighting against science advancement, be it questioning the firmament, earth flat earth model, geocentrism, disease being caused by demons/spirits etc.

3.) evolution being challenged persistently for the last 150 years and to this day (still not being proven wrong)

4.) Putting people in government to sway laws in their favor is not uncommon and pretty easy. (lobbyists).

Sorry that was much longer than it needed to be.
