Should the UK rescind its offer of a state visit in light of Trump's attacks on the Mayor of London following the terrorist attack ?

Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I wouldn't blame the Brits. Trump is an embarrassment to all civilized people with connected brain cells.

@Crazywaterspring: amen
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
I wish he had never been offered a state visit so soon after his election. - previous Presidents had to wait several years for an invite and he should have had to wait as well
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@pezzza: Quite possibly - if he does come he should spend all his time with Sadiq Khan just to upset him
@Dlrannie:
Apart from the fact he shouldn't be coming here he should not only have to spend time with the good mayor- an extended lunch perhaps - but be presented to every Muslim leader in Britain.That should make him a happy bunny.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@Pedromartinez: Haha - good thought
firefall · 61-69, M
perhaps they could let him in but not let him return? please?
ajoite · 51-55, F
@firefall: No way..even if we have to put him in a medieval sling and fling him back to you
firefall · 61-69, M
@ajoite: That would be an acceptable alternative, in fact :D

@firefall: Best table tennis game ever

Also to add that May thinks she will get a good trade deal by being close to Trump. Given our weak geo political position and given this is trump, he will screw us.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Burnley123: No question he will screw you, sooner or later. It is inevitable. He does that to everyone eventually.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@Burnley123: Of course he will , is she really so naive as to believe otherwise ?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@pezzza: I think the Conservative leadership have bad judgement but are not quite that naive. They desperately want to be able to say they have a trade deal - any deal - so they can sell it as compensating factor for leaving the single market. On propaganda grounds they need it, which Trump will know.

A deal is likely to be TTIP in nature but stacked further against Britain. Tariffs are already really low so all we have to negotiate with is further outsourcing of the NHS and our education system to US companies. Joy.

its a matter of time before he only has his Saudi Arab friends left as "friends", after his last visit most see him just as the blunt clown he is. 😀
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@kingkyrie: The Russian mobsters like him too only because of their investments.
Mrsmeta · 46-50, F
Hell yes. He is treating the U.K. Horribly! He will continue to get away with it until someone (especially on the world stage) puts their foot down. Stop enabling his bad behavior!
MartinII · 70-79, M
No. Trump's comments, though impolite and unpresidential, were pretty much to the point - much more so than the empty expressions of solidarity from other world leaders.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@pezzza: A lie is a purportedly factual statement which is demonstrably untrue. So, if I were to say "I am American", that would be a lie.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@MartinII: "A lie is a purportedly factual statement which is demonstrably untrue.' ....... ok buddy now go back and read the tweets and you will find we are actually in agreement , per your definition.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MartinII: Trump's statement about the London mayor was demonstrably untrue, and deliberately repeated at least a day after the event. In other words, a lie.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
Trump has no intention of working with the UK or any other nation, so a state visit is a waste of time.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@windinhishair: To him it would be the ultimate glorification though. I don't want that piece of crap anywhere near our Queen.(And I bet she doesn't either.)
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@pezzza: He is all about himself, even when it is at the expense of my country, or yours. I hope that you keep him out.

No! Let's strike a deal. Allow him to visit, we'll prevent his re-entry under the "Travel Ban," and we promise to work with you to find a remote island to ship him to.
SW-User
@windinhishair: Ooh, I like it. Almost outside the reach of his voice.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@WhisperingBanshee: No place on earth is big enough for his ego, but at least the trumpeting should be held to a dull roar.

Idk but picklebobble2 thinks we should kill the terrorists family members because they are related! I mean that is messed up
ajoite · 51-55, F
@Tanner07: Maybe so, but your answer wasn't remotely related to the question
Tanner07 · M
@ajoite: ik I wasn't answering it I was pointing it out because we were on the topic of London.
SW-User
No. A person, a city and a nation are all different things.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@Peekaboo: And ?
SW-User
@pezzza: I gave my answer. You didn't understand?
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@Peekaboo: No I didn't , what's your point ?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Yes.

If May wins its not gonna happen
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Burnley123: believe it or not May is getting bad press in the US. Wasn't she Home Secretary not so long ago? Now she's talking about security after cutting budgets. That's disgusting!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Crazywaterspring: I agree its disgusting. Her campaign has relentlessly attacked Jeremy Corbyn - her rival - for being soft on security too.
SW-User
Please , take him and don't send him back
Sadwithasmile · 22-25, M
