Has the UK Government gone full alt-right?

You don't need an insurgent right-nationalist uprising when a ruling Conservative Party can willingly morph into one. The UKIP vote has collapsed because Thereasa May has done it better and is in power. Ultra-hard Brexit, anti-immigration, sucking up to Trump. Who needs Nigel Farage?

The worst thing yet is May's meeting with Euro leader and bureacrat in chief Jean Claude Juncker. A gaffe prone performance in which she demonstrated knowing jack sh**, thinking a deal with 27 nations would be a quick process and thinking that Britain is in a strong position was leaked by Juncker. Her reaction to that was to stick a figurative middle-finger up at johnny foreigner clothed in a Union Jack. Juncker is a shyster but he is shyster with a lot of influence.

We have just pissed off our biggest trading partner who have five times our economic strength. Of course the hubris is interpreted as strength by our nationalist press and their 'Crush the Saboteurs' mentality. It will help May in the election but then this mentality will screw us.

Thereasa May's slogan for the election is 'Strong and Stable'. Unfortunately a lot of people buy it. I wonder if they will still call me a 'Remoaner' when the recession hits us?

You started with the insults not me. Therefore by your own standard - you lose.

Sorry Joe I have to go now because I have something more important to do. My sock drawer needs rearranging.

That is not an insult that is a joke. "You know jack shit, even about the politics of your own country." Is an insult.

5 years of Nigel Farage as PM would do y'all a world of good.

@thatscottishguy: have fun.

@Burnley123:

Farage will knock some sense into whether you want it or not 😜

Completely, completely wrong. You evidently know nothing about how to negotiate. If you want to win a negotiation you have to start from a hard position, from which you can retreat somewhat if necesary, and make your opponents believe that they will struggle to meet their objectives. If the reports of the Downing Street dinner are correct, then both May and Juncker understand this very well.

@MartinII: The problem is the dissonance between what is promised to the British people and what is actually deliverable. Lets leave asside the money for the NHS on that bus. Building trust and alliances is also one way to negotiate.

May cannot back track on freedom of movement which means leaving the Single Market and a huge economic hit. The public is also promised a 'strong and stable' economy which is something that evidently will not happen. The nature of the Tory Party means that the city of London will be protected whilst the northern (Brexit voting) heartlands will be gutted of even more of their industry.

The little Englander posturing is aimed at the electorate but it is a short-term strategy that will backfire to all of our detriment.

Well I wouldn't but only out of rivalry. Our cultures are very similar.

When the left becomes full-establishment, it makes the right look alt-right.
