Why most of people are against the feminism?

RootinTootinHighFalutin · 36-40, F Best Comment
People who oppose feminism oppose it for different reasons depending on the person. Some people oppose feminism simply because they don't believe that men and women should be treated equally under the law. This could be a result of sexism that exists for whatever reasons such as negative experiences with women, inability to enter or maintain relationships with women, superiority complexes, and so forth. Some people that oppose feminism are simply misinformed about feminism. Anti-feminists usually believe that feminists are man haters and only exist to bash men when in reality, feminism only aims to address issues that women face in society that might or might not be caused by men. This isn't to say that some feminists openly do hate men just as some men openly hate women. You're bound to find a few bad apples in every group.

@RootinTootinHighFalutin: I agree with that. feminism is all about equality, but due to a small number of people it's viewed as anti-man movement.
@Arrow: Thanks for BA.

@Arrow: It was originally started as a movement for equality, that movement has now been perverted. I had an ex who was a staunch feminist, and browsing through some of her literature was quite eye-opening as to the movements' current aims...

Because of the ridicule people expect others to stand for. "Free the Nipple" for example.

Men and women aren't the same--not physically, not mentally.

We should be standing for women who don't even have the freedom to speak, not to prance around with our tits hanging out.

@Antiquity: yeah I agree with that thing.

The true nature of feminism, i.e. equality I have no problem with.

The modern idea of feminism i.e. female superiority, I take extreme issue with...

Ehen i consider what feminism has accomplished i am in awe.women are no longer the property of men, they can have money, own property and vote they have the right to decide what they want to do and have choices. and what ever those choices are it's ok. a lot people mostly men have felt threatened by the idea of woman as equals. after men used to be the kings of their castles and that is hard to give up. those femi-nazis are just an extreme splinter. every group has them. modern feminism is the same as it always was. equality for women but not at the expense of men. and in reality true feminism is good for everyone because it assures that over half the population has a chance to be happy and make choices on their own terms. instead of walking around unfulfilled, dpressed and hooked on Valium. which therefore makes it happer for everyone else. and there is an added benefit to men. in today's difficult economy if we still lived as we did in the pre-feminism days, men would be bent and broken from the burden of being the sole support for their families. they would be working 2-3 jobs just to eek out survival. were i a man i would be glad that burden is no more just on my shoulders.

as for being men haters. i am sure some are but the majority are not. we love men and want them to be successful.and happy also.

I'm not against it, even though my views are more "anti feminist".
I just want to be able to live my life and have my opinions without someone jumping down my throat.
It's strange that feminists are supposed to stand up for women's rights, that would be ALL women, but I have been bullied and disrespected by more feminists than anyone else.
I'm not even looking for a fight, but if I share my opinion about single mothers and how a lot of fathers are being cut out of their children's lives, etc. then the abuse already starts.
I've had to block almost all of these so called feminists because they can't just discuss things rationally. It always turns into nasty personal insults and I'm not dealing with that.
So that would be what I don't like about feminists.
It's the distorted image of what it is today that i don't like. As another pointed out when it goes into the realms of "superiority" then it becomes something i'm not for.
So i'm for equality but feminism by the way it seems to be defined today seems like a movement lost to the negativity of the bitter few within its ranks.

Also, teenagers who post those videos that actually ridicule what the movement is by being completely wrong or misguided/bullying people has just given it a bad image. Now its just been lumped in with "Leftist libtard" so and so.

They don't understand what it is. And that goes for some of the people who say they're feminists too.

Feminists act like strong women but in reality they don't respect themselves. They invite speakers to the women's rally who murders 60 year old gay men and gather to stick up for activists like Linda Sarsour who are PRO sharia law. They threaten women that do actual activist work and most can't get off their pedestal enough to add some humility to their work ethic.

Back in the day we women fought for the OPPORTUNITY to do jobs that were previously taken by men. We just wanted an equal chance. These days they aren't feminists, they're feminazis. They aren't looking to be treated equal, they want to be treated special.

There are those who don't understand or support the goals---both among those who call themselves anti-feminists and those who think they're feminists but are only interested in the welfare of white, Western women.
There are also a lot of people who still believe women are inferior---both men and other women.
I don't know about most, but I'd imagine those who do are influenced by the fact that feminism is one of those things wherein there's a world of difference between the ideals and the implementation
