Does the media editorialize much?

What a difference one word makes lol

I'm not going to hang around for the hate fest on this thread, and I get your point about word choice.

But what Trump is doing is not the same thing as other Presidents from both sides, who have asked for U.S. Attorneys' resignations and then set up a process to replace them in due course so as to avoid crippling the DOJ and messing with the personal lives of people who've been working for much less money than they could be making in the private sector.

True to his word, Trump is "draining the swamp" and deconstructing the parts of the administrative state that he objects to, in the case, the Department of Justice.

These guys were told to clear out their desks immediately, causing a real mess for their local offices. It WILL affect pending prosecutions and investigations negatively, whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Personally, I think its bad, whether or not the obvious fact that some of them, like the guy in New York may have had investigations into Trump or his friends ongoing had anything to do with it.

It should, however, make things easier for Trump, since, at least for awhile at least, he'll have a few less people with ethical obligations he doesn't understand or appreciate in the way of his agenda. Hopefully, Sessions can find replacements who fit the new litmus tests, whatever they may be.

@Misty71:

I hear you are agree with that expression completely. There are some things government does well that we need.
@Jackjjacksonjr: Biden would have made for an interesting race, but the key now is to find younger blood, just like you did. Ryan's a snake, but I'd have preferred him to Trump.

@Misty71:

Ryan I dint trust not a little bit. He is one of THEM. Part of the swamp to be drained. The president is using Ryan to get the president's agenda done.

Or that what Trump did was different .. crazy how that works?

Obama replaced people, just like most presidents do. Trump told them they could stay and then later on, changed his mind. Hence the difference in wording. Its not tha tough ...

If by they you mean the Dems, media and your pal Pherick here rather than the word dramatic you use dickish then yes.

@Jackjjacksonjr: Yes that's what I meant :)

The difference was in how the US attorneys were relieved of their duties. Obama gave them notice that they were being replaced at a future date, so they could get their affairs in order prior to their replacement. So "replace" is an apt description.

Trump gave no prior notice of removal, and in fact, as someone has pointed out, at least one of the attorneys was told he was staying on. When you tell someone that their services are being terminated at the end of the day, and to clean out their desks, that warrants the terminology "ousts". You would have a point if it had been an orderly transition as it normally is under a new president, but it wasn't under Trump, so it deserves the different verb.

@windinhishair:

That's why the deputy AG's and assistant US attys do the actual work duh.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackjjacksonjr: You can pretend that a disorderly and chaotic transition doesn't create problems, but it does. Of course, by this point in the presidency, this is becoming the norm and not the exception.

@windinhishair:

There. You got your agenda out. Satisfied?

This is why I read my news instead of listen to it. They are trying to brainwash us. By reading it you can more easily pick up on these things.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
THEY would be unbelievable had we been not seeing the same playbook for so long.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
I think the obvious difference is the way it was done.
Do you not think the fast and dirty way trump did it merits a different description than the way obama did it?
Don't be so quick to cry about the big bad media

The mainstream media called Obama a moderate, enough said. What did Clinton do, replace a few, he replaced ALL.
limefairy · 46-50, F
They believe the average American to be too stupid for facts.
