Is there anyone else who thinks SJWs *and* their critics are a bunch of mindless fanatics?

I think you run into the danger of false equivalence by saying that. There are almost always going to be counter-movements to rising ideologies in the world, and this one is no different.

I think the points being raised from both sides are important, but both groups frame their problems in ways that aren't conducive to stimulating dialogue. And with this lack of reciprocity, the fanatics at both ends stick out that much more than would be implied by reality. And with these fanatics sticking out, it feeds a cycle of animosity that makes them both appear mindless.

I would say that ultimately, it's a mixed bag. They're not all mindless, and it's important to listen without rushing to conclusions. People are more likely to be open and reasonable if you show you're willing to listen. Otherwise, you'll just get bickering factions.
